It was another early morning and both boys despite their differences in looks and personalities were still in sync with each other at times. They both emerged from their bedrooms at the same time and noticed that something was wrong. Mike had to look down a bit at Matt and Matt had to look up at Mike. The difference was not extreme, maybe an inch at most.
"Dude..." Mike said nearly vibrating with excitement.
"Yeah man," Matt sighed feeling like he was being left further behind in another aspect of their lives.
"Mom! Guess what!" Mike shouted and raced downstairs.
Matt sighed, Mike was already a lot more popular, out going, stronger, maybe even smarter than he was. Now Mike was taller. Both boys were never more than a few millimeters apart in height but now a full inch separated them, making Mike a good 5'2".
Matt made his way to the kitchen where Mike was begging Mom to measure him to prove his new height difference.
"Wow, it's true. A full inch taller," Mom said surprised by the growth overnight.
"I hope there's more, a lot more!" Mike said and took his seat at the table and started to eat his cereal.
"How about you Matt, did you also grow?" Mom asked politely.
"Yeah, fatter!" Mike said giggling.
"Micheal, you stop that!" Mom snapped at Mike and then gave a kind smile to Matt.
"No Mom," Matt sighed sitting at the table and started eating his cereal.
"Don't worry dear, I am sure your growth spurt will come soon enough," Mom smiled.
Mike motioned a ballooning belly and snickered and hastily are his cereal.
At school Mike was boasting around that he was now the Big M of the M Twins now and to the twins surprise a few other boys in the class had also grown an inch taller over night. To Mike's surprise and Matt's dismay the boys who all grew were on Mike's baseball or basketball teams. The boys were elated about the growth and what advantages it could bring. Matt and the other non-jock boys sighed a because they were already annoying jock types and now they were bigger.
