(BTW in this universe hiccup had himself renamed kaldr meaning cold in Norse)

kaldr: defense or attack? (assuming it was one of the usual commissions)

stoic: well neither

kaldr: well then what?

stoic: it's not a commission I just wanted to talk

kaldr: er no, in the past seventeen years you and I have never just talked so I assume that something important has happened but you are having difficulty in communicating it (not wanting to bother with small talk)

stoic: you don't think that it's possible that I came to you for company?

kaldr: ha ha ha, if i'm the best company available then things in the vast household must be worse than I thought

stoic: Oh alright then the point is...
