Chapter #3

Yami's Last Resort

    by: YugiohPKMN Author IconMail Icon
The sound of metal colliding and crunching filled the Ark of Yatamo as the Emperor of Everlasting Darkness, Yami, slammed into the metal floor, steel screeching as Yami’s mechanical shell scraped along the ground before stopping dead. The glowing lines on the shell rapidly flickered various colours, and the metal itself was attempting to form into something ,but constantly collapsing in on itself before it could even form something solid. An attempt to get back up like the last three times, but this time the attempt would not succeed.

The one who broke this dark shell was Amaterasu, the goddess of the sun. The white-red lined wolf allowed herself a moment to breathe, which turned into a moment to pant, exhausted from the long battle. Yami had begun the battle by stealing all of her Scared Techniques, the main tools she used to fight demons such as him. It had been hard to get them back, but as they we stolen back, the battle became easier for her. Yet Yami had counted by entering many different forms, some that she could understand, others that she did not, yet all of them had the same weakpoint- an orb full of water, and containing a fish-like god, that she assumed had been powering Yami. It had been a long and hard battle, but now, the metal demon lay, unable to form anything that would hold it’s shape. As soon as she freed the fish-like god, the shell would break for good, and then she could return to the heavens......

....yet out of the corner of her eye, Amaterasu spotted someone she hadn’t expected to see here- for he could not enter. Issun, her one-inch companion and one of the only beings she could truely call a friend. Why was he here?
—————
Not yet known to Amaterasu, she was looking at a mirage. This mistake caused by empathy would prove to be a severe one, as within the shifting, creaking wreckage of Yami’s shell, lay Yami himself. The fish-like god within the orb of water was Yami- or as he was truely known, Hiruko-‘s true form. Said orb was cracked and leaking water fast, and Hiruko could not survive with no water. He desperately attempted to get his protective shell working again, but it was no use. The sun god had dealt too much damage to the shell, which frustrated Hiruko. He was not about to die, gasping for water in defeat while that Wolf and that Moon Tribe fool (if that fool had survived his demon army in close quarters, then he would have survived a dismissing swat) revelled in their victory....

....so in a moment of desperation and spite, he called upon something held deep within him. A dark, wild energy, and he focused it into the shell, now broken around him. It begin to change and form again, this time holding and changing into something that would be Hiruko’s final spite, Yami’s last resort. What this attack would do, he had no idea, but he knew it would take the mortal realm’s’ victory and make it bittersweet. The shell formed into two sharp prongs, purple lines running through them, and the dark energy flowed ito the prongs, arcing and sparking, before firing in a dead-on blast at the wolf.
———-
Amaterasu did not see the blast of dark energy streaming towards her before it was too late, but even if she had, she found she had not the strength to dodge. And so, the shot hit her dead on, and she suddenly was surrounded by a mist of purple and mint-green energy. She could not see through it, and just as suddenly, she had the feeling of her body being pulled away- in which direction, she couldn’t figure out. She tried to hold on but she couldn’t get a grip, an attempt to use a brush technique failed her, and then her conciseness begin to flicker. As the mist glowed bright, she let out a loud, howl of pain and despair, and even when the mist’s glow faded, and the mist evaporated, leaving behind a glowing light, her howl lingered for a while after she had vanished.

Hiruko would have laughed in triumph, but even if he could, the laugh would have been empty and hollow, just like his victory. After all, he he would soon die from lack of water, and with him, the demons he commanded would begin to die just as he would. The mortal realm of Nipom would be free, but yet they would be with no goddess. But....as he lay in the orb, dying, he thought he saw the face of Izanagi glaring down at him from above, his father chastising him for what he had done. And yet, he hadn’t regrets for what he did. He had thrown those away a long time ago.....so...Death.....was like.....a deep sleep-

With Hiruko’ death, came the death of Yami and his forces. Demons around Nipon collapsed and withered away, no dark force to sustain them. Darkness receded, and Light returned, yet weak and dull. The shell of Yami collapsed even more, burrying the orb and the corpse of the fish-like god.

"In all these tales, there is no record of a decisive victor.
Has no one emerged victorious ?
Or was the event simply not recorded ?
As the darkness tries to cover all, forget not the warmth of purifying light. Prayer is power. Power is prayer."
