As Mike foolishly walked away, someone else walked nearby. She was a redheaded woman wearing a green tank top and yoga pants. She was about 25. Her messy hair was tied up in a bun, she had some but not much makeup on, and seemed to be sweating slightly. In her hand was a leash, and at the other end was a German Shepard who seemed to happily keep pace with his owner.
Her name was Jane, and Jane was having a lovely day walking her dog Sammy. She was off for the day, so she had decided to treat herself to a lovely day around town. There was even more excitement given it was Friday, meaning she had a three day weekend ahead of her. She only had one more block to go.
However, her excitement was interrupted as a tug from her leash stopped her in her tracks. She turned back to see her dog sniffing at something laying on one of her neighbors yard.
"What is it boy?" She asked, getting closer to see for herself.
It was some kind of remote? She picked it up and began to examine the strange device. It had a screen and four buttons: Fuse, De-Fuse, Select, and Reset. It had the words Blarg Industries engraved along the bottom, just underneath the buttons. The screen appeared to be displaying some kind of directions. Reading through, it appeared to be claiming that the device could be used to fuse things together. It seemed to be designed with fusing people in mind but it said that it could also work on inanimate objects and animals.
Jane was stunned. There was no way what she just read was real... right? Suddenly, her dismissal turned to curiosity. It was impossible, no chance of it working, but if it did this was NOT something she could just pass up. She'd be an idiot if she did that.
Sammy looked up at her confused as to why they were still stopped, and Jane just grinned back.
"Sorry Sammy, I gotta see if this thing works.... It says it works on animals and objects too but I don't think I wanna risk that." She laughed, almost not believing this thing could actually work.
Looking around, there were a couple potential targets she could try. First, there was her next door neighbors, the Hunters. All she saw however was Grace who was busy gardening, and her son... Jane thought, Mack? Mike? Whoever, who seemed to be talking to her as he just got home from school.
Across from them was the Martinez's house, and two of their kids were standing outside. There was Diego, who was getting into his car. Jane only knew the kid as he constantly hit on her, much to her annoyance. Also walking towards the car was his younger sister, Marisa, who constantly apologized for her brother's antics.
However, on the completely bonkers option that this thing somehow worked, maybe she didn't want to mess with people she knew. She didn't want to walk anywhere, but she could drive somewhere with Sammy... maybe a park or the mall? She pondered for a moment, until finally she decided...
