After minutes of Jamie hitting his twin sister's face, signs of waking began to show. It started with a groan of protest and shifted to her acknowledging what tried to wake her up, albeit it was a lazy, unfocused "five more minutes." Groaning, Jamie began to press harder against the smooth skin of his sister's face, pulling, hitting, and nearly biting to get her attention. Seconds later, a shadow loomed over him, and he turned to witness a large hand moving towards him.
Unable to stop it, all of Jamie's attacks on her face were repaid and then some. The titanic fingers curled and uncurled, rubbing her cleanly cut nails against her face. It didn't take long for him to notice that she was just scratching her face, but it reassured him that his attempts to wake her up were not in vain. Although, he would have to take a less subtle approach.
Surveying his options and his landscape, he noticed her left ear was not blocked by anything. Seeing that he hasn't tried it before and it was a lot less dangerous than any other way, Jamie had decided to yell into her ear to rouse the sleeping giant. Jamie began his trek across the pillow landscape; he tugged at heavy strands of hair to move it out of the way, almost tangling himself in the process.
Jamie made it to his twin sister's ear, huffing and panting in exhaustion. He gripped the lobe tightly and steadied himself from falling. Feeling secure, Jamie made his way downwards into the ear canal. He stopped before entering the cave, hoping he had gone far enough. "Mary, wake up!" Jamie waited a moment for a response before trying again. The shrunken boy yelled out her name again; this time he received a response.
"What?" Mary's voice boomed, her voice incredibly close. It was weary and sleepy, still handicapped by sleep.
"I know this might sound weird but..."
"But what?" Mary asked again, sounding a little more awake.
"I'm tiny."
"Yeah right," she said before erupting into an earth shaking giggle fit. "Next thing you're going to say is that you're in my ear."
After balancing from the the earthquake, Jamie angrily replied, "I am." Once again the floor beneath him shook, and he kicked himself for not preparing for another laughing session. Not wanting to fall deeper, Jamie said, "I can prove it! Just... cup your hand by your ear, and I'll come out.
Still skeptical, Mary just decided to humor her brother by doing what he asked. She sat up first in a way that almost launched the tiny boy out of her ear. She put her hand against her left ear, and impatience soon took over her as she tilted her head and practically forced her brother out.
The floor beneath Jamie vanished, and he found himself falling towards his sister's hand. Screaming loudly in both surprise and fear, Jamie eventually made contact with Mary's hand. After regaining his composure, the tiny boy was greeted with his giant sister colossal, freckled face. "Woah, look at you. You're so tiny!"
"I get it... I spent half an hour trying to wake you up."
"Well if you wanted to wake me up, you should have messed with my toes."
"Eww, no!"
"Come on, Jamie, they're not that bad." Mary teased. "Give 'em a whiff!" Mary closed a grip around her itty-bitty brother and began to slowly move him towards her waiting feet, and Jamie could do nothing but watch as he approached his sister's wiggling toes.
