Nyx sat, her turqoise eyes glowing. She narrowed her eyes slightly, watching the alicorn colt with distaste. How dare he. How dare he even suggest he needs to protect us. I am Nyx! She fumed, her ears pinned back to her mane. Azure swiveled his head around, his intense eyes piercing her soul. "We are about to arrive. When we depart the carraige, you are to stay by me. Understood?" he blinked at Sweetie Belle, then sat his unwavering gaze back on the horizon. Sweetie Belle rolled her eyes, a smile on her pretty muzzle, and scooted closer to Nyx, shivering in the cold night air. Nyx stood, reaching with her long neck to snag a navy-wrapped parcel with her teeth. She placed it in her lap, then did the same for a purple wrapped package. Sweetie Belle blinked, then levitated the ribbon off the parcel, the paper gently falling. A pale pink gown slid off the wrapping, starry silk glistening in the moonlight. The gentle folds of the skirt descended to the ground, and a silvery strap fell a length, hanging in Sweetie Belle's magic. She quickly gasped, her eyes on the gorgeous garment. Nyx looked with awe and playful envy, admiring the beautiful handiwork of Rarity. Sweetie Belle stood, levitated the dress onto her hide, and smiled. She looked to Nyx with glowing eyes, and laughed, indicating the similarly wrapped package of Nyx's. "Open yours!" she cried, and circled Nyx, bouncing up and down. Nyx blinked, and picked up the parcel in her own aqua-blue magic. The wrapping fell away, albeit hastily, and a similarly made, navy blue and purple dress fell out, starry silk sparkling. Nyx slipped into it, and felt herself transform. She watched as her height shrunk, to match that of Sweetie Belle's, if not slightly taller, and as her own dark purple mane straightened, then curled slightly, appearing neat and sophisticated, not like her usual unkempt, stray plait. Nyx's eyes became rounded. "Trust Rarity to try to protect me." she snorted, then ajusted the spell on the dress so that her eyes were the same. She understood the rest, but her eyes were special. They made her different. Nyx huffed slightly, seeing Azure's impressed gaze fall on her. He had a strange look in his eyes, dreamy, almost. Nyx narrowed her eyes, snorted, and looked to Sweetie Belle. Azure shook his head, cleared his throat, and turned back to the sky. Sweetie Belle smiled, trotted to her, and whispered in Nyx's ear. "You have an admirer." she teased gently, and turned away. Nyx grimaced, looked to Azure, and shook her head. He couldn't like me, She thought. Not with my history...I've never had an admirer, before...What good are colts, anyway? She huffed, blushing slightly, and turned away. She staggered slightly as the chariot thudded to the ground, making Nyx blink. As she opened her eyes, she gasped as the hulking mass of Canterlot Castle loomed over them. Nyx regained composure, and stepped lightly out of the golden chariot, dipping her head gracefully to the pegasi driver. Sweetie Belle followed daintily in pursuit, followed by Azure. He blinked at her, then turned his head away. Sweetie Belle sniggered, then trotted off, a few meters ahead. Nyx rolled her aqua eyes, the dragonlike slits making the action strange, and followed at a gentle canter, levitating the hem of the beautiful dress away from the ground. Azure started in surprise, and followed at a brisk gallop, catching up on Nyx quickly, straining to be at her side for reasons other than to be her personal guard.

Nyx trotted up the marble staircase to the throneroom of Canterlot Castle. Azure was at her side, muscular shoulder brushing hers. Nyx shivered every time they touched. His warm black fur was pleasant for her to touch, and sent a shiver down her spine, making her heat race. Nyx shook her head, trying to shake off the strange feeling, and cantered the last few steps, huffing. As she blinked, panting, at the top, a warm voice reached her parked ears. "It does take some getting used to. I don't know what the architect was thinking. He must have been fit." Celestia's flowing mane shone in the moonlight. Her sister, Luna, stood at her side, equal in height. There was a friendly shine in both their eyes, and Nyx bowed, muzzle brushing the floor. Azure stood at attention, mane flowing, wings and head raised. Nyx glanced sideways, and felt her heart quicken as his eyes met hers. Looking back to the Princesses, she stood, head held high, eyes wary. She was still slightly unsure of the two, and nearly killing them, then banishing them to the moon and sun respectively didn't help the feeling of it. Celestia smiled warmly, and beckoned Nyx closer, wrapping a heavy wing around her. "Come. I will take you to your quarters, and Luna will show you around the caste later. In the morning, we will start study. Luna will be your guardian, I your mentor. Azure Kage is your bodyguard, present at your will and when you leave the palace. For now, follow me!" she said lightly, and trotted off. I wish Sweetie Belle was here. She thought. The unicorn had departed from their company at the heart of Canterlot to settle in at her residence. Nyx trotted off, mane flowing, heart racing as she felt the warm touch of Azure's shoulder. She had feelings for him, no doubt. And so did he.
