Chapter #5

A small stop with big consequences

The sun was shining bright and the weather was overall pleasant, with a refreshing breezing passing through the trees of the forest. It would have been considered by most travelers to be a perfect day.

All travelers except for one. Amalia Princess of the Sadida Kingdom.

"Are we there yet? The green-haired, dark-skinned teenage asked. "I'm tired. And hungry. And thirsty..."

The three males of the groups merely grunted, too focused on reaching their next destination to worry about what resident member of royalty was complaining about.

"If you focused more on walking and less on complaining about every little thing, maybe we would be moving faster." Percedal remarked, a bit unfairly. They had all been walking for the last few days with not much rest and thus their sluggish pace was hardly Amalia's fault. Still, her complaining had been getting worse and had eroded what sympathy the men had for her.

Evangelyne was much more sensitive to what her friend was going through and decided to step in.

'Hey, maybe we should set up camp early for the day. We could all use a break." The blonde Cra announced, drawing the attention of the rest of the group.

"But, we have hours of daylight left. It makes no sense to just stop now." The Iop knight was, like the others, impatient to finally get out of the forest and didn't see the point in stopping when they still strength left to move. Move until you couldn't go another step was this Iop brains motto to travel.

The other two were also not sold on the idea, Yugo especially desperate to keep going despite the weariness evident on his young face.

"Come on. We're all exhausted and could use a break. Half a day isn't going to affect our plans too much." Eva looked around at the others as she said this. Amalia was definitely on board with stopping for the day and she could see that the Ruel and Yugo were tempted to also call it quits. Percy was still dead set on pressing onward, his Iop stubbornness shining through. Eva would have to bring out the big guns to convince him.

"I was thinking about trying on some new lingerie I got in the last town, but with all this walking I'm been too tired to do it. I was even thinking of showing you and getting your opinion, but if you want to keep going...." Eva didn't have to finish her sentence as Sir Percedal proclaimed loudly that they were setting up camp and went to chop wood for the fire.

An Iop brain to the end.

Eva glanced over, seeing the open look of gratitude on Amalia's face and the more subtle one on Yugo. She also noted the lecherous look on Ruel, the old man clearly hoping to get a peek of Evangeline in lingerie.

Not happening.

"Ok. Ruel, you get the tents set up". Eva quickly began barking out orders, "Yugo, fire pit and food supplies for dinner. Amalia, you go see if there’s a stream or river nearby. We could use some fresh water. I'll take a quick scout of the area and be back in a bit." With that said, Eva took off into the forest, to make sure there wasn't any danger nearby.

Amalia was happy that they were finally stopping, but less so that she had to work. She rather lay down and rest while letting the other do all the work in setting up camp. But that would have led to a scolding from Evangelyne and Amalia desperately wished to avoid that. So it was with a good deal of reluctance that Amalia set off to find a source of fresh water.

Using her Sadida powers, she was able to quickly discern were the local planets were getting their water and was able to follow that to its source. It took a few minute of walking for her to reach a large lake. Amalia complaints about working faded as she looked at the body of water. It was a fairly small lake, but the water was crystal clear and looked so refreshing. Maybe they could get a chance to go for a swimming before hitting the road again.

Amalia went to the shore of the lake, captivated by its beauty. She was so entranced by it that she didn't realize that all the tree and flowers surrounding the lake were much larger in size then those along the road they were travelling on.

She cupped some of the water into her hands, about to drink some of the liquid when she heard a sound coming from the brush. It seemed that one of her companions had followed her to the lake. The person who emerged from the bushes was.....
