Near the end of the great war that occured many a year ago, Arkanos was stationed deep in the bowel's of Akron's grand impenetrable castle. To defend 1 of 10 demonic energy core's that drive the power of darkness from other dimensions to this one, to bring beings from the deepest evil and dark worlds known to exist. The sounds of the final battle to determine the will of the light and the strength of the darkness was at hand.
When Arkanos was waiting for the intruder's, at the end of the giant corridor to the demonic energy core, the giant door's were forced down and a dozen soldiers with assorted weapons charged in, following a human in heavy armor with a large tower shield and a large blade. Arkanos clapped slowly as he commended the strength of the commander and the soldiers for making it as far down as they did.
"I commend to you for making it this far, but at this moment you will die where you stand" Arkanos said as he unsheathed his blade and pointed it at the commander
"I will not die where I stand, I will kill all where I stand" The commander said as she slammed her shield down into the ground and held her sword proud
"Let's see about that" The energy core started pulsating and dark portals started to appear everywhere around the group that charged in. The soldiers weren't fazed in the slightest as all of them prepared for the worst. Then a horde of zombie-like creatures with white glowing eyes came out of the portals and stormed the group with overwhelming numbers.
Only 2 soldiers and the commander remained as they were completely covered in the blood of the zombies. Large piles of bodies are sprawled all over the corridor floor's and the soldiers who fought valiently were torn to shreds.
"I see you have beaten the zombies, that takes some skill, now you have to pass through me first" The two soldiers brought their weapons up, but the commander moved her arm to signal them to back away
"No, this one is mine" The commander took her shield from the ground and walked toward Arkanos
"So, may I ask your name, so that I may remember this victory as the one that helped my master?"
"Avila Quin, I already know your name Arkanos the XII, the great knight of the order, hero of the reach, and son of Galiant the white. How the mighty have fallen"
"And how the weak die" Arkanos charged with his blade foward and Avila raised her shield high. The two soldiers that survived stayed at the sidelines killing demons that tried to interfere in the battle.
Between the two fighters, both fought with the limit to their ability, with Avila's reputation being true to its word and Arkanos tiring himself out with all the heavy swings he was taking. He continued until he was at the point he had wasted all his energy on an opponent that didn't even move from her spot, which the opponent being female was an even more devestating blow to his defeat.
"You finished now?" Avila questioned as Arkanos impaled the ground with his blade and began walking backwards toward the demonic energy core
"No...I will finish this and prove that I am the strongest, this is just a set-back as your strategy was one of great cowardice, now don't die before I fight you again!" Arkanos turned and jumped into the demonic energy core.
"What a fool" Avila said as she pulled out a rune-inscribed bomb and threw it into the core, in which it raptured into itself as it dissolved into a cloud of black aura. As she did that the two soldiers were still fighting off the demons
"Avila, we need some help over here!" One soldier said as there were even more portals opening, most likely from other core's
"Get behind me!" Avila commanded as both left their spots and got behind Avila as the shield to protect them and as them the protectors.
"Okay you two, you better be as good as you say you are because this is not going to be an easy escape" Then a large hoard of demons charged with a blasting roar that could be heard throughout the entire underground...
As the Arkanos, he had just entered a world of eternal darkness, where the sun never rises, and all that is left is the remnants of its inhabitants.
"I have time to rise again and to kill all who stand alive" Arkanos said as a giant serpent creature came out of the ground breathing fire
