"I know I may not always understand 'girl things', so maybe if I was a woman I could be able to help you out a lot better."
Jen closed her eyes and concentrated. When she opened them again, a middle-aged woman with her dark hair in a bun stood in front of her. She was about 5 inches shorter than Jen and was wearing a white shirt under a black blazer. She had a black skirt on which reached just above her knees and wore black heels which decreased the height difference between them to only 2 inches. Without his beard, Steve was almost unrecognizable to Jen, so it took a while for her to process what she was looking at.
"It actually worked," said the woman, who was now Jen's mother. "And look at you."
Jen, still wearing glasses, was now a rather thin 5'8" boy with short black hair, wearing a black hoodie, jeans, and black sneakers.
"I thought I'd be the only one who changed, you know, if it worked," said Steve.
"The power is to swap," Jen explained, slightly startled by his now deeper voice. He pulled out his phone noticed his name was now Jonathan, or Jon, and quickly realized he had a lot more contacts. "I guess in this new reality Evan invited me into his friend group with Mark, Scott and Matt," he rationalized.
"So, sweetie," Steve began. "You mind staying like this for a while? Maybe I'd get to understand how it feels to be a woman at my workplace, there aren't many of us at the office," he chuckled.
Jon considered going to school to experience his new social dynamic and ultimately accepted.
