Chapter #5

our role in the family?

    by: Rezgor Author IconMail Icon
Miranda got thinking. She knew it was just a silly question and a weird game Evan's. However, it was a really interesting question. If she could change something in her life, what would it be? And most importantly, what would she wish for her son to have? It was really fun to think about all this. She placed her finger on her mouth thoughtfully.

"Why don't we try switching our role in the family? Taking a break wouldn't hurt, and it would be interesting to see you doing household chores." She laughed, knowing it was just a game, but she enjoyed imagining it.

"I don't know, wouldn't that be a bit drastic?" Answered Evan with some doubts. He thought that changing their roles would have some advantages, like having all the authority, and his mother would have to obey him in everything. Besides, he wouldn't have to go to school anymore. Although, there were some things that worried him...

"Come on, Evan, I knew you were kidding, but you could've kept it going a bit longer. You gave up too quickly." She showed a little disappointment at her illusion ending so soon.

"It wasn't a joke; I really can exchange anything with you." Evan said, realizing his mom still didn't believe him.

"Then what's the problem with changing roles? It would be fun, don't you think? Plus, you could help me with the household chores." Miranda said, hoping that Evan would at least accept to help her with the house chores.

"I'm worried that if we change roles, people would see me not only as a mother but also as a woman, and I'm not comfortable with that." He expressed his concerns.

"Wow, Evan is taking this more seriously than I thought." Miranda thought to herself. "Well, I'd better play along."

"Evan, there's nothing wrong with being a mom. In fact, I think you would enjoy being seen as a girl; you'd see that it has its advantages." She winked at him. "But if it really bothers you, we can exchange our responsibilities and authority at home. That way you could help me with the household chores."

"If you put it that way, how about we exchange...?"
