It was a Friday morning in May and Scott did not want to get up for school. There was still a month of school left and he was ready for the summer. Scott groggily sat up in bed. His head was spinning and he felt way more tired than he usually did in the morning.
A sharp knock on his door snapped him to alertness. "Scott, hurry up and get up or I'm leaving without you!" his sister Tina's voice called out through the door.
"Shit..." Scott grumbled as climbed out of bed. His older sister was his ride to school and he definitely didn't want her to leave without him again. Otherwise, he'd have to try to get a ride from his buddy Mark who lived next store ... and he wasn't always super reliable about that.
"I'm up!" he shouted through the door, but Tina had gone downstairs already. Steadying himself, Scott left his room and started making his way to the bathroom.
What the hell is going on? he thought as he splashed some water on his face stared into the mirror. Why is my head pounding like this?
That's when he suddenly remembered the dream he had last night, the voice in his head. It had told him that he now had the power to swap anything with another person as long as he had their permission. It sounded absurd, but maybe, just maybe, this pounding in his head was due to the fact that he had been imbued with this power.
He was dying to know, so he forced himself to get ready as fast as possible so he could see if it was true. Once he was dressed, Scott headed downstairs. His parents had left for work hours ago, of course, since both were doctors on the morning shift. His sister Tina was outside already, getting in her car. Scott needed to hurry up if he wanted that ride ... but maybe he should wait for Mark and tell him about the power. Or maybe he could tell Tina. Scott thought about what he wanted to do before deciding to...
