Amy wasn't feeling particularly well this particular Friday morning. As much as she wanted to stay in bed, she needed to get up for school. Even though it was May and there was only a month left of school, it was no time for slacking off. Groggier than usual, Amy climbed out of bed.
"Oh jeeze," Amy muttered as she got to her feet. It felt like her head was spinning.
Amy stumbled her way to the bathroom only to be almost knocked over by her 14 year old sister Melanie as she burst out of the room.
"Woah, watch it!" Amy snapped, her head throbbing lightly.
"Sorry, Sis!" Melanie squeaked before disappearing back into her room.
Amy sighed and entered the bathroom. She splashed some water on her face and tried to steady herself. As she stared into the mirror, she suddenly recalled her dream from last night. A voice came to her in the night, telling her that she now had the power to swap anything with another person as long as she head their permission. Amy knew it seemed ridiculous, but for some reason, she couldn't help but think that it was real and somehow connected to her terrible headache.
Clearing her thoughts, Amy got herself ready for the day, then headed downstairs. Looking around, she thought about trying out her power to see if it was real. Her mother Olivia, a self-employed hair stylist and beautician, was waiting on the girls to get ready so she could drop them off at school on the way to the salon she owned downtown. Her father Joseph was sitting at the table, reading the newspaper and enjoying his morning coffee. He would be leaving for work soon. Then there was Melanie, or Mel as she tended to go by. She was fighting with a package of Pop-Tarts she planned to eat for breakfast at the moment. Hardly the most nutritious breakfast.
