It was raining heavy. There were pools of water everywhere. Seven random college students had gathered in the library to study but none of them was in the mood. They each wanted to be elsewhere.
There was construction going on nearby but the rain had put a halt to it. So Mark was also bored and stopped in the library to think about what to do with his unplanned day off. So far, there had been no predictions of flooding but the library was one of the safest places to be if flooding did occur.
"Anyone interested in a game of cards. I found this strange deck yesterday and haven't tried it out." Mark said.
Jason asked, "What's so strange about it?"
Mark said, "It's called swap poker and it has some strange rules that don't make sense."
The seven students agreed to play at least one hand Mark dealt going around the circle to his right as follows: Sarah had a nine of spades showing and a worthless hand. Scotty had a king of clubs showing with a potential straight. Catherine had a two of diamonds showing and a worthless hand. Rick had a ten of hearts showing and a worthless hand. Rachel had an ace of clubs showing with all the other aces in her hand. Jason had a ten of spades showing with a worthless hand. Ben had a nine of diamonds showing and a worthless hand. Mark dealt himself a king of spades showing but a worthless hand.
Ben started to fold but Mark said, "If I understand the rules, there are penalties for folding. A nine of diamones means that you would lose your torso for a week whatever that means."
Ben said, "Whatever that means is right. What kind of penalty is that? It's probably just talkng about some tokens that were supposed to be in the game but got lost."
Everyone except Rachel and Scotty folded. Scotty's straight never materialized but she didn't fold. Rachel won the first hand. Suddenly, everyone experienced a change.
Sarah's hair became curly and brown while her chest flattened. Scotty's chest grew. Catherine lost her personality becoming depressed. Rick became interested in tea parties but lost his genitals. Rachel gained a penis and balls beside her vagina. Jason lost his genitals. Ben received a second set of genitals beside his original set but lost all his upper torso musculature. Mark gained upper torso musculature but lost his hair.
