Harry was in shock, the devastation of the battle still firmly in his mind, as he fought for balance, both mental and physical. But the whole atmosphere had changed, he saw the look on Hermione's face. The only upsetting thing for her... the most upsetting thing for her this entire evening had been Harry's scream, as the universe shifted.
Dumbledore entered the toilets, "The Girls' Toilets again Harry...." a cheeky smile upon his face.
"The boy who slew Voldemort ... does he want to try being a girl."
Harry's mouth flapped silently as he tried to organise his thoughts. Was this really Dumbledore... What had happened to Hogwarts... What the hell was going on....
Even as he struggled to do anything but look like a gawping idiot....
His memory flashed....
Harry flinched... he knew what was coming... The bars of his crib held in his pudgy hands...
Tears welled in his eyes, as the sickening emerald flash screamed his mother's death.
His grip tightened as Voldemort blasted him, the pale light just reflected off his innocent body, and struck Voldemort. It raced around his body, crackling and sparkling, lighting him from head to toe, until he fell dead.
As Harry blinked the tears from his eyes, his sight returned and he was back in the present in the toilets. Looking in hope at Hogwart's greatest school master, his best friend and fellow student Hermione Granger.
The rule book throbbed hotly in his hands, as he tucked it away. The outline of the four house animals flared briefly on the cover before fading away.
Briefly he felt guilty about hiding this ... this most powerful of artifacts. It's creators ensured it's neutrality, and their stature it's strength. Harry wanted to race over and hug Dumbledore, to tell him how much he'd needed him ... his advice in recent years... But, he was the only one who recalled those years.
Harry promised himself that he would never use the book for such wide ranging changes...
The words of George and Fred, came unbidden to his mind as a guide .... I solemnly swear I am up to no good....
