Day one for Ben

    by: DrZaaijer Author IconMail Icon
After cleaning off the table, Ben logged onto the computer in the living room. He needed to learn the tips and tricks for putting on make-up. He thought he had just forgotten since he hadn't done it in such a long time. He started with the basics and then looked at videos which showed the more advanced techniques. He stuck to the basics, but every video he saw said that make-up started with foundation. You would never look as good as you could without putting on foundation first. It also said on the other hand that putting on too much foundation wasn't good either.

In the morning, Ben had to shave his face again and then he put on just enough foundation to hide any stubble that might appear. Ben resolved to have all the hair on his face removed by electrolysis. Then he used the techniques that he learned to put on the rest of his makeup. He had all the supplies, but not the right color for his skin tone. He would have to go to the dollar store and buy new make-up. It was best to buy it there because it was cheap and it might take a while to find what worked well on his face.

Once he was done, he made an appointment with the hair dressers. It was a good thing the appointment was in the afternoon, because he had to go to a shoe store first. Besides not being fashionable enough, none of his shoes fit him. He spent almost two hours looking over and buying new shoes for himself. The saleswoman looked at him oddly but Ben didn't mind. He actually enjoyed looking through the dozens of pairs of shoes he saw. He wanted something stylish, but nothing for old ladies or for young women. There was a balancing act in everything he selected. He didn't want to be an 'old lady' anymore, but that is no reason to dress like a 'kid' either.

He wanted his hair washed, colored and permed. He brought in a magazine article with a picture of what he wanted. The stylist said his hair was too short for that, but she said if they added extensions it she could make it work. Ben agreed. The hair doo took all day, but in the end he loved the look. There wasn't time to shop for a new wardrobe, but at least he could now walk around in properly fitting fashionable shoes and his hair was very pretty..
