Alice felt her shyness coming back. She'd managed to open up to Megan already, but she wasn't sure if she was ready to meet another person quite yet.
"What about the basket?" Alice asked, maybe hoping that it would get Megan to forget her idea.
"Alright, I'm going to teach you Rule #1 of Buttercombe," Megan answered. "Always keep a snack or two in your room. Always. You never know when you need a little something to get you through a study session or essay. That basket right there? That should supply enough snacks for at least a day or two."
'A day or two?' Alice thought. But it looked so big! Before she could voice this objection, Megan continued.
"Come on. Once you'd had a taste of my friend's spaghetti, you'll understand."
Finally, Alice relented. Maybe meeting another person today wouldn't be too bad? She certainly hoped so as she followed Megan out of the room and down the hall. Not that far down the hall; maybe 4 doors at most. Megan knocked on the door. A few moments later, it was pulled open and the busty redhead was pulled into a hug. Alice was amazed, once she saw the size of the hugger; she didn't think it was possible for someone so chubby to move so fast. Megan and her friend spent some time catching up, until Megan seemed to realize something. She then reached back, grabbed Alice's arm, and dragged her forward.
"So, this is my roommate for the year, Alice. Alice, this is Ronnie, the best chef on campus," Megan said.
Ronnie laughed, which caused her entire body to shake slightly. "I'm not quite there yet, Megan," she said. Ronnie then turned to Alice. "I'm going to be your RA for the year. If you need anything, you know where my room is. Feel free to stop by, even if its just to hang out."
"Okay. Thank you," Alice said.
"Anyway, with this being Alice's first day at the Combe, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind fixing up a welcome feast for her?" Megan asked.
"That you can just so happen to sit down to as well, right?" Ronnie asked back with a sly smile.
Megan shrugged. "I have absolutely no idea what your are implying, Miss RA."
Ronnie laughed again. "Sure, sure. Come in, both of you! Dinner will be ready soon."
As Alice stepped into the room, her nose detected a most wonderful scent. She hadn't really doubted Megan's words about Ronnie being a great chef, but she was now beginning to understand what that might mean. As she tried to pick out individual smells and what dishes they might belong to, she spotted Ronnie's roommate sitting on a couch. | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
