Clara sighed and set the pen and paper aside frowning. Time! She needed more of it! She was already a Junior and she needed to use this time wisely or else by summer of her Senior year she’d be suck having to be an intern at some rinky-dinky pharmacy, and an unpaid one at that! She shivered at the idea.
…However, if she spent this year conducting experiments then Senior year she’d still be here and still have time to probe around the Combe’. Plus, she’d have more time to gather more information to build a case against Polluck.
She picked up a notebook off of the desk and glanced through the paragraphs and designs inside. “Hmmm…” She thumbed through a few pieces of paper, and came to a small grim realization. The idea of investigating Buttercombe seemed to have ‘infected’ her thoughts so to speak; each and every one of these projects seemed to have a Buttercombe kink to it…
No matter. These were all award winning ideas she was sure of it!
Let’s see here…she mumbled aloud to herself…There was a shuffling of papers and then she stopped on one that caught her eye…
Production on new calorie dense soylent that could end world hunger. Eureka!
(NOTE: This is a real product that could actually happen within our lifetimes, if you’d like to read more about it and even help out the cause that’d be real cool of you. http://www.npr.org/blogs/thesalt/2014/07...)
She’d attempted to make it before while at home over the summer. It had tasted…well it tasted green! She had baked enough kale and avocados into it to choke a herd of Brazilan cows. Now, here with quality grade lab equipment and even higher quality cooking equipment, she could get the perfect balance of nutrients and taste down to a science. She giggled aloud at her own pun… Her laugh cackling and maniacal in its tone but not in its intent; she supposed it was one of her many quirks that had earned her the label of “Weirdo” whenever she overheard whispers in the hallway
Clara sighed....
Well let’s take a look at some of the others shall we!…Aha!
The effects of subliminal messages on a subject! She had recorded a few mp3’s of her voice, and then sped it up to unintelligible speeds, then set it to play alongside some relaxing music. Then she’d put a few suggestions and words of encouragement for the listener to hear while they slept.
These hypothetically could help students perform better and ranged to anything from;
“I’m going to do my homework first thing tomorrow morning” to “I’m going to make sure I’m early to class today. I will not be late.” Even “…?”
She couldn’t make out this next line, her blue ink pen must have smudged all she could make out the word “Food” but that was it. Oh well she’d figure it out when she got to it…
Why waste time though? There was a whole school year ahead of her and all of these were good! She’d just have to pick one to get started on…more importantly who would be the test subject?
