Chapter #4

Follow Adeline as she struggles to solve her fr...

    by: Unknown
She flinched at the glaring light from within, and her spirits fell further as she was confronted with the emptiness before her. Hadn't she just been to the market two days before? Sadly it wasn't impossible that she had in fact cleaned out the fridge within the past 48 hours. Idle hands were certainly the devil's workshop for Adeline, and Lucifer seemed hell-bent (so to speak) on inflating her ass to the size of a weather balloon.

She closed the door and stood up, grumbling as she awkwardly reached back to pick her underwear out of her hungry cleft for the fifth time in as many minutes. Like all of her panties that were still in rotation, these were worn out to the point of uselessness. The elastic was shot and the fabric stretched sheer. She'd grown ample enough that her intimates now needed to be less about form and more about function. There was too much of her now down there; she badly needed support both in back and up front but just hadn't been able to bring herself to shop for new panties. It would have meant facing the fact that her bottom had outgrown even the offerings at the local plus size chain, and that she'd have to step over to the Fat Woman Dark Side and order her knickers online.

So this was it, she told herself. This would be her rock-bottom, and perhaps it would be best if she began her day, and the new semester, in a different way. She wouldn't eat breakfast, but instead she'd take a walk. Nothing too drastic, of course, just nice long stroll through town. She'd burn a few calories and for the first time in a while maybe she'd work up a real appetite, not just feed her boredom-induced compulsions in the same mechanical way she'd been doing all summer. A journey to lose 100 pounds could indeed begin with a few steps. she mused.

Mornings were already chilly in early September so she put on her Buttercombe sweatshirt over the t-shirt she'd slept in. She then plopped back down onto the bed and pulled on her comfy and endlessly forgiving culottes. They weren't the most flattering or fashionable garment she owned, but they had an ability to stretch that was nearly supernatural, which was far more important at the moment. It worried her that even they were now snuggish around her hips even as they swished loosely around her knees and calves. She found her sneakers and slipped them on as well, white Reeboks she'd purchased during her last attempt at exercise nearly six months ago, worn once and then exiled to the top shelf in her closet. They were comfortable at least, even if they gave the culottes a run for their money in terms of their lack of style.

Purposefully ignoring her mirror, she left the house and headed up the street towards town. She decided to avoid campus, not wanting to bump into any students or fellow faculty dressed as she was. The air was cool and damp but invigorating after a long, hot summer. Distracted by the wiggles and wobbles of her over-sized and under-supported derriere, she pulled at the back of her sweatshirt but it was like trying to cover a Volkswagen with a tea cozy. Screw it, she thought to herself. Let it jiggle. Really, what did she care who saw her and what they thought?

Her destination was EarthWise, the new organic juice place at the far edge of town, about a mile and a half's journey by her calculations. She'd driven past the place several times but had never been. A tall glass of greens would be a nice, healthy change from her usual carboholic's breakfast of frozen toaster waffles and syrup, followed up with a donut or six from Essen's bakery. In fact she could almost feel herself being pulled towards Essen's, automatically making the turn down Vine Street, as if the bakery had its own gravitational pull and she was a satellite with a quickly decaying orbit. She had to pull herself away, right now.
