Melanie is really freaked out and while she has a grad degree in high energy particle physics this is waaay past that. She needs someone smart for advice, and the only person she knows who is that smart and seems kinda chill is Dr. Alonzo. But she doesn't know how to find her, and can't exactly wait here in the lab without revealing herself.
She peeks into the hallway and sees the security cams are on, how can she get around them, she can't just turn invis...
Her body fades away, becoming invisible and for good measure, immaterial, a cloud of bosons she controls. Ok, so yeah, invisibility is on the table. She tries to grab the door handle to open it but her barely visible (to her) hand just goes right through it. She tries several times, but she isn't physical and can't open it! IN frustration she kicks the door...and her leg goes right through it. Idiot. Immaterial, you're essentially a ghost. And she walks through the door.
Heading down the hallway, she finds Dr. Alonzo's office, but no business card with an address, nothing in her desk to say where she lives. Seeing there is no camera, Melanie becomes physical again and opens her computer. Of course its encrypted and she can't get in..dammit, she really needs to get into this computer...wait.... is that a thing, can she do that? Taking a deep breath, she recalls how circuits work, how programs work, how they are in essence just electron pathways, and her computer is encrypted, not off...if she can get into it, like actually put herself inside the computer...Melanie jumps a bit as she sees herself dissolving and sparkly flow of....well, of her, flowing toward the screen, and poof. She's gone.
Navigating a computer form the inside is crazy, and she has to really get her mind operating differently. She finally manages to write herself into the iOS operating system (it's a macbook air) and her perspective is really weird...its so disorienting being data, interacting with data, looking for data. She finds nothing, but then checks Dr. Alonzo's email and pauses. Her home email address is in here. Can she like actually email herself to her? Or maybe just travel through the internet?
