Tom decided not to do anything with the candies until he talked to his dad some more as he had the feeling he knew more about the candies than he was willing to say. Upon returning home, Tom sat in his room, staring at the jar of muti-colored treats and found himself fighting the urge to make a wish. "This is creepy." he whispered to himself. "It's just a stupid jar of candy... right?"
Nate returned from his jog about an hour later. He was confused to hear him walking around the house, opening and closing doors before walking up the stairs to do the same on the second floor before walking to my bedroom. He seemed relieved as he knocked on my open door. "May I come in?" he asked.
Tom nodded and Nate entered, smiling. "I knew you had a good heart, Tom." he said. "Sorry I was a bit mysterious earlier but I needed to know if you would handle this responsibly."
"So you do know about these candies." said Tom, motioning to the jar.
Nate nodded. "Let's just say I had an interesting childhood after discovering the candies myself." he said. "I want you to open the jar and tell me what you feel."
Confused but curious, Tom took the jar into his hands and opened the lid. Immediately, he felt and over powering urge to make a wish right away. It frightened him to the point that he quickly closed the jar. "Whoa!" he exclaimed. "Talk about addictive, I wanted to make a hundred wishes at once, I nearly grabbed a piece and swallowed it whole!"
Nate sighed. "Your reaction to that feeling tells me that you won't abuse the power those candies will give you." he said. "Just remember to be very careful what you wish for as you will get it, but you might not get it the way you want it."
"What should I do?" asked Tom, shaken.
"The candies were given to you so, unless you freely give them away or the entire jar is stolen, they will only work right for you." replied Nate, seriously. "If someone steals a piece, I'd pity them as their wish will have an ironic twist. Just don't bait anyone or the irony will fall onto you."
With that, Nate left the bedroom without another word and Tom turned back to the jar, uncertain of what to do.
