Chapter #5Be Greater, And Fatter by: yeeterman   The world seemed like it was ending, and for good reason. Doctor Otto Octavius, once a renowned scientist and good man, had become corrupted by his own creation, the neural interface. This drove his hatred of New York City’s Mayor Norman Osborn to new heights, as he finally took all of his violent impulses and feelings toward Osborn and acted upon them. Otto released five super villains from the Raft, with the help of his technologically marvelous mechanical arms. This “Sinister Six” wrecked havoc across the city, all in an attempt to destroy Osborn, but that wasn’t the worst of it. Otto unleashed the Devil’s Breath virus, a chemical agent which was extremely contagious, and lethal.
So, New York was not looking great. But, one man started fighting back against the looming threats. Spider-Man had successfully defeated four members of the Sinister Six, but he needed to find a way to stop the Devil’s Breath pandemic. He had heard rumors that Oscorp (Norman’s company) had begun actively developing a cure, but nobody knew where the facility that had it was. Spider-Man’s best guess was that Norman knew, but he was constantly surrounded by his hired Sable mercenaries. Luckily, he had a back up plan.
Mary Jane Watson was a reporter from the Daily Bugle, and she dated Spider-Man’s secret identity Peter Parker for a long time, until the two broke up. The two were brought back together by the Demon Gangs attacks on New York, and the two have been working as partners to stop them. Though they had some disagreements, the two came back together and now were fully on the same page. And MJ was completely ready and willing to help find the antiserum.
She came up with a plan to sneak into Osborns penthouse and secure the location of the serum, and Peter agreed. He would be a few blocks away in case anything happened, but MJ knew she could handle it. Getting into the penthouse and getting out quietly would be simple. So MJ distracted the guards around the lobby, while also getting a stun gun just in case. She then called a lockdown, forcing Osborn and his guards to leave the penthouse. This gave MJ the perfect opportunity to slip into the elevator undetected.
MJ arrived at the penthouse and immediately began her search. She found a few things scattered around the apartment, books explaining Peter’s powers, some new technology that was being developed, and even some blueprints for the apartment, revealing a large room behind the nearby picture frame. MJ moved the frame, and it revealed a keypad, and the password was labeled as “Harry’s Last Day.”
“Looks like he used Harry’s last day as the code- that must be the day Harry left for Europe.” MJ said to herself. Harry Osborn was Norman’s kid, and was Peter and MJ’s closest friend growing up. He went on a trip to Europe and she hadn’t heard from his since he left. The buildings lockdown protocol ended, and MJ was allowed access to the rest of the apartment.
MJ searched the entire penthouse, happening upon a bathroom, as she looked into the mirror. At five foot eight and one hundred and twenty pounds, MJ was a very attractive woman. She looked tired however, as this crisis that spread throughout the city had taken its toll on the reporter. She wore her signature brown jacket, with blue jeans and a green shirt. MJ’s red hair was done in a ponytail, as to not cover her eyes.
“After this whole Devil’s Breath thing is over, I’m going on vacation.” Mary Jane said to herself, before continuing her search. She eventually found Harry’s room, and she entered and found out the truth Harry was hiding from everyone. He was getting treatment, as he was sick with a genetic disease, not in Europe. MJ found the code and started heading back toward the painting, but the recently returned Sable guards posed some difficulty. MJ was successful, and eventually made it to the painting, where she punched in the code and entered the room.
It was a lab, full of different technologies and different points of study. Chief among them were a collection of spiders, most likely trying to replicate Peter’s powers. But MJ couldn’t focus on that, she had to find the antiserum. Using a map, she was able to pinpoint the location of the antiserum to Oscorps Research Facility. She also did some snooping on the nearby computer, learning that Octavius and Osborn created Mr. Negative, head of the Demons and one of the terrors sweeping across the city. This shocked the young reporter, and she quickly downloaded all the various files and videos. She then looked toward a spider cage, and was greeted with one leaping at her. This caused MJ to move back, knocking over another spider tank, shattering it.
Mary Jane quickly hid, as Silver Sable entered the room, she looked around, and determined that nobody was there, and then left. But as she left, MJ felt a sharp pain on her wrist. She looked down and saw a giant, bloated spider biting her. MJ swatted the arachnid off of her, and stomped on it. The spider left a mark, but MJ couldn’t dwell on that. She had to escape. She left the lab, and navigated toward the balcony. As she ducked past the Sable agents, she felt changes happening in her body. Her clothes felt tighter, she could feel her belt straining, and her button on jeans about to pop.
“What the hell is happening to me?” MJ whispered to herself as she made it to the balcony. Silver Sable almost caught her, but MJ told Peter to hurry to the northwest corner as she jumped off the balcony. Spider-Man caught her as the two swung away.
“Your crazy!” Peter said, as he held his ex-girlfriend. Although Peter knew better, he felt the difference MJ was experiencing. She was heavier, he could even tell by looking at her.
“You’re amazing!” MJ said, as her jean button popped, falling down to the street below.   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
