The large pickup truck traveled down the coastal road and approached the gate. The cars in front of the truck slowly lurched on into the park.
Carly looked over at Spike then began to talk "Wow there is a hold up. Probably a new guy or something. Well, that's what happens when it is such a nice day and all. I wonder if the water is cold. Spike do you think the water will be cold? I hope it is cold will be relaxing to take a dip anyway. I will probably just sunbath with you on the beach most of the time. We did bring the large blanket right spike. You know the blue one that we used that one time camping?" Spike nodded as he pulled up to the guard window and pushed the button bringing the driver’s window down.
"First time here sir?" The teenage black furred rabbit in the uniform asked then noticed Spike pointing to the windshield nonchalantly.
From the passenger seat the guard heard Carli speak up "We come here all the time. It is surprising you have not seen us before. Are you new? Maybe it is a summer job or something. Would be a fun summer job imagine you can meet tons of interesting people. Is the water cold? It feels warm out but you know how sometimes the water can take a while to warm up." The guard quickly pushed the button lifting the gate and the truck pulled into the parking lot.
Carli grabbed a tiny blue bag from behind her seat then looked up at Spike "I'm going to change first. Spike can you get us a spot on the beach. Somewhere out in the open yet still close to the water. Be right back." Carli said walking toward the changing building.
Spike let out a sigh as he tossed the blanket over his shoulder and snatched up a bag and cooler in his paw. He pulled a umbrella and collapsible chairs from the bed of the truck before walking onto the sand. Gazing down the beach he spotted a couple of canines rolling up there blanket and walked towards them.
Carli walked out of the changing building and noticed there bright pink umbrella being opened. She looked over at the Siamese cat who she was talking with and smiled. "You need to go? It was nice meeting you anyway Cathy. Hope to see you soon. Call me later, I'm sure J.T. and Spike will like to hang out" Carli remarked before waving at spike in a light blue bathing suit. Spike grinned and extended the chairs laying them down on the blanket facing the beach. He looked over and noticed Carli on the ground holding her ankle.
"What happened?" Spike said standing over Carli with a great amount of concern.
"I tripped over something. Fell right to the ground. Glad your hear Spike. It is not that bad just took me by surprise is all." Carli said getting to her feet and looking at the spot in the sand where she tripped. Spike noticed where she was looking reaching down digging his paw under the object before pulling it up causing the sand to sift through his fingers reveling a...
