To approach your old body wouldn't be the best idea, his accomplice had threatened to kill you after all and you yourself might've said some threatening words when he feigned ignorance of the swap. Something about chopping his dick off, though you meant this body's. After five years you still weren't used to seeing another man's dick between your legs when you used the toilet.
You had also been warned by your parole officer about your suspicious movements, getting so close to your old house. Your ankle collar had GPS tracking. You were able to justify the visit to your old house as it was a part of your run. But after a call to the dispatcher, you were moved to a different route, which is why you couldn't go back and check the house. The search on social media you got away with by using the previous user's profile. They had logged off but you found ways around that.
So now you had to play things a little bit more safe, you had a GPS tracker but your family did not. You couldn't go to where they usually were but they could come to you. Scott was already an unreliable choice, and he'd probably just dob you into the parole officer and get you sent back to prison.
The other tricky issue was your family didn't believe you about your swap five years ago so you couldn't approach them head on. Erika hesitated back then though you suspected that she was contemplating whether or not to use this to punish you for the times you experimented on her. She probably didn't think it would go as far as it did and if she was still the sister you knew, she probably told herself that you had been lying. It didn't help that your dad was against the very idea of a body swapping machine existing, despite your previous inventions, but the look in his eyes when you were sentenced told another story.
Kyle on the other hand seemed to be the most accepting of a body swap machine, he was excited at the prospect even and given his studies in theoretical sciences surely he would believe you. So you sent him letters explaining the situation and your side fully, you didn't have the chance back then. You then gave him an address to meet you at, a dog park not far from where you worked. You chose a dog park as they would react if someone were to scream. You told him you would be waiting there every day for a year a three in the afternoon, when there was still light out and the park was at its busiest.
And so you waited in hopes your brother would show up, giving you a connection to your old life.
