"Perhaps you've heard of The SFU, Mark?" Of course your dad had heard of SFU. The Society For Unification was a terrorist group headed by a supervillainous scientist. Their goal was, "Unification of the World." Naturally, that meant they sought to take over the world. They had been a major threat to peace for decades, but remained at large. "I've been a member of SFU since before we even met. I married you in hopes of getting some useful technology out of you. It turns out, our child was the one to pay out. 20 years worthwhile, I say."
"Get back in the machine, Kim," Your dad orders. This time he barrels at her with full force, knocking her into the pod. He jumps into the other pod and activates the machine, restoring their rightful bodies. That evil organization can never get their hands on this technology. It needs to be destroyed, and not even his wife was going to stop him from- The door to the pod wouldn't open. Mark slammed against the small glass window of the tube, until Kim's face appeared. "Let me out, Kim. I won't let you use my body for evil!"
She laughs, and gets close to the window. "What makes you think your body is worth anything to me, Mark. I'm thinking more along the lines of... The president of the United States. At once I deliver this technology to headquarters, all of the world's most powerful people can be replaced with SFU Agents like me. How does that sound?" Despite pleading and violent reaction from your father, your mother doesn't back down. "You know, in the past 20 years we've been married, I think I've grown to kind of like you. So I won't kill you."
The machine activates, and your father finds himself flung from his body once again. The body he's transported to is crammed awkwardly into the pod, and is dwarfed by it. Your dad has been stuck inside of Jake, your family's dog. He tries to speak, but to no surprise from anyone, can only bark.
Your mother pets him and the head, and scratches behind his ears. Against his will, it makes him feel happier. His tail starts fluttering of its own accord. "I have a theory. You maintain your memories and consciousness when you swap bodies, but you're now stuck with the biology of a dog. Your mind is human, but that's a dog brain. Do you think that brain can operate on the same level as a human's? And can a human mind within a dog brain resist animal instinct? I suspect a human inside of a dog's body will... become a dog in a dog's body after spending a little time there. Let's test this theory."
Your mom takes your father, trapped in Jake's body, and ties him up outside, returning to the garage with the machine and your father's dog-minded body.   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
