Po was genuinely surprised to find a scroll with a technique that allowed a person to turn themselves into any inanimate object they wanted, whether it be an item or piece of clothing, for any predetermined length of time.
"Oh sweet, I just gotta try this one out" he exclaimed unraveling the scroll and pursuing it.
For once the lazy panda actually read the whole thing through and in the process discovered that if he chose to become a piece of clothing he could become something already being worn at that moment by another person. That article of clothing would then gain sentience in the form of his mind while his body would vanish then reappear in the same spot as before after time was up. So aside from having to figure out how to explain his absence later on he could totally get away with using it.
