Entering your father's, Albrom's, room, you find yourself filled with great purpose. Today, you intend to make use of your potential and find yourself a proper mentor. You have known magic your entire life and have even bothered to spend the time to gain control over a few minor spells, but the knowledge you hold tells you that you are capable of so much more. With this in your mind, you grasp the shoulder of the only soul who, thus far, has truly cared about and for you.
The middle-aged man with the appearance and demeanor of someone much older and wiser awoke with a start. Abruptly sitting up in bed, his arm immediately latches onto yours, holding tightly, as his eyes search the room frantically. After a short moment, the terror leaves his deep, blue eyes, and his grip loosens. He clasps your hand with his own free one, he exhales in a long sigh, calming himself. You assume that he had awoken from yet another occurance of a particularly common nightmare of his, in which he gets skewered by some sharp projectile, be it a spear or a thrown dagger. Whichever of these it might be, you figure that it was to your advantage that you had taken him out of said particularly stressful situation, given what you were about to tell him.
You found this unecessary, however, as his face seems to even light up when you confide in your goal of furthering yourself in wizardry. He simply retorts, "We were born with a brain in each of our heads instead of rocks for a reason. It just so happens that you've gotten stuck with an exceptional one, and it is far past time that you use it."
His words struck you hard, and almost like being stricken in the chest literally, you found yourself struggling to breathe. With liquid now streaming down your face, you gave your father-figure a hug to trump all hugs, thanking him. Soon, you clad yourself in travel gear rather than tears, and found yourself traveling with a strange, new longing for the home you had not yet left. With a few crucial belongings in tow, you left your long time residence, knowing that it would be a great day indeed when you made your return.
