By "long and hard" you had evidently meant only a few moments of thinking. With the vast majority of the knowledge contained within your mind having it's roots in the infinitely more vast field that is the magical arts, it was more of a wonder that you hadn't chosen to pursue said field to a much greater extent much earlier. Had you chosen to just ignore all of the knowledge that you had been born with, it would have probably driven you crazy with both temptation and curiosity.
Fortunately for you, however, is that you had just chosen to invest time in furthering your magical skills. With already having inevitably mastered a few explicitly simple spells during your youth, along with the inherent magical nature of your species, you were already well along on your way to becoming a magician. A rookie, apprentice magician, but a magician none-the-less.
So, the true begining of your story unfolds. Your very early youth, for a dragon, while surely interesting to experience, would seem extremely uneventful and perhaps even boring to one simply perceiving it. Or, at the very least, it would be considered such compared to the quickly arriving next chapter of your life.
As such, you have sought after a leave, albiet possibly temporary, from your father(The likes of which probably ought to be refered to by his name, Albrom.) and his tidy, quiet living. You began a search within your kingdom(The likes of which probably ought to be refered to by its name, Yvale.) for a mentor both capable and willing to teach you what you wanted to know, yet not quite capable of discrening the truth behind yourself. Or, perhaps simply willing to overlook it "accidentaly."
Your search came to a conclusion after finding what wasn't quite what you were looking for.
