The next days went as normal for Naruto, the only odd thing he felt was a few weird shivers coming from absolutely nowhere, as if a current of cold air very quickly travelled through his body and left just as it came in, but he just thought he was probably about to catch a cold or something. Unbeknownst to him those shivers were actually created by Ino, tiny spikes of chakra that connected to her "collar" jutsu still within its network allowed her to reach and tweak her new exciting jutsu.
Ino wanted to do more with Naruto, but she understood how he wouldn't be willing to let himself be controlled again, and she didn't want him to know she was controlling him at any point anyway. So Ino had to track him around with one of her clones just to make sure she could still link up with him (not daring to activate the discharge of pain for Naruto or else he could recognize it) and try to do small tweaks that could allow her to exert control over her test subject while looking perfectly innocent in the process.
The breakthrough came when Ino discovered a way to turn her jutsu into a perfect tool not only for torture or control but also for espionage itself. With her knowledge of the mind and thanks to the surreptitious concoction within Naruto's chakra network, Ino was able to perform a weaker, but more reliable variant of her mind transfer technique. This meant she could "travel" to Naruto's body and perceive to a certain degree the same things he perceived.
Even if it was a bit limited, Ino celebrated as if she got a rank promotion the moment she was able to do this. The bad part was that she couldn't directly control Naruto or influence his actions in any way, it was more like travelling along in his body, but the good news was that thanks to the collar she didn't need to lose control of her own body like in the mind transfer AND she could do it from a huge distance, as if it was a mental version of those weird rods used by Pain. The best part? There were actually no bad parts, in order to control or influence Naruto, she had the collar itself!
And the other breakthrough was being able to modulate the pain Naruto received. She was still a ways off to being able to create a different kind of pain or other sensations like pleasure to reward good behavior, but she was fairly confident that the next discharges would be unrecognizable to Naruto, even if they were still headaches.
The next day Naruto felt another shiver that he ignored, and Ino just went to her home and focused on watching the Naruto experience, which felt like watching a blurry TV channel in some ways. She could see him saying hi to Sakura and laughed at how nervous he still felt around her, would Sakura ever give him a chance? she could see him going to Ichiraku and eat some ramen, noticing there were still tweaks to be made because she could kinda taste a diluted version of the thing and that was a bit disgusting, and finally she could see him go and talk to Tsunade about his future prospects a Hokage
Ino smirked sensing an opportunity, and as soon as she heard Naruto addressing Lady Tsunade as "Baa-chan" sent him a small discharge of pain
"Ow!" Naruto said, noticing his head suddenly started to hurt a bit for some reason, it wasn't like a migraine this time, more like a small but still noticeable jab inside his head.
"What's wrong?" Tsunade asked
"Not sure Baa-chan.. Ow!!" The pain came back again "Maybe I'm getting sick"
"I see, then stay away from me for the next days please. I have too much paperwork to deal with to afford getting sick" Tsunade said and dismissed a worried Naruto
Ino closed the link and laughed in delight, wondering how far could she take this
