What now?' James thought. 'Where are we going?'... ...
He really could barely hold in his curiosity anymore. His instructor had warned him not to speak while in flight, but James couldn't care less at the moment. So defiantly, he arched forward and shouted, "Hey! Where are we going?"
Shadow scowled at this. At first he refused to answer, but then, after constant bugging, he literally exploded. " You are not supposed talk when you are flying! How many times must I tell you that!?"
James, ignored him - repeating, "Where are we going?"
Shadow looked as if he was about to strangle him there and then, but decided against it.
"We are going to 'The Sharpening'! Now, for the hundredth time, will you shut up!"
It took a long time to reach 'The Sharpening'. But it soon appeared before them. Not as big as the Weaponry of course. But its tip - as though to match its name was carved particularly sharp to resemble a Blade. With one impatient gesture from Shadow, they landed.
"What are we doing here?"
"You are going to sharpen your own sword," he commanded as though it was the most known thing in the world.
"How do you even sharpen a sword?" James asked. It sounded ridiculous. Weren't swords supposed to be sharp in the first place?
Shadow looked insulted at this. "Hand me your Misterian Sword."
James did as he was told, pushing the piece of stick into Shadow's hands. Frankly speaking, he still couldn't believe that was a sword.
Shadow inspected it, twirling it around for eternity, before turning back to face James.
"Take a Sharpener. One of those from the back. And Sharpen it."
James groaned, he didn't like the sound of this. "Help me... please?" He suggested hopefully.
Fat hope. Shadow positively glowered at that request.
"This is a Misterian Practice so I suggest you don't skive of this," Shadow snapped. "A Sword is forever our life-long companion! So upon receiving one, we sharpen it. We shape it to our liking. Its believed that we're shaping our own destiny through this."
The only thing James could think of was, "Oh."
Shadow glared at him. "Would you like me to shape your destiny?"
James wanted to say "I couldn't care less" but he didn't dare to. So instead, he just meekly shook his head in reply.
"Good,"Shadow said.
James went behind and he found lots of ridiculous looking equipment. All of them had different shape and sizes. Most had jagged diamond edges, metallic gears and blades, and others were stuck with pieces of crystal shards. They did not look like sharpeners one bit, but as Shadow mentioned, they had to be. Some looked like broken pencils while others looked like apple slicers. James guessed that the more bizarre The 'Sharpeners' structure, the more extraordinary the result of the 'sword' blade would be.
He decided that he'd go for the coolest looking one.
James went to a corner and picked one up.... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
