Becca drops the ring, and another girl picks it up

Becca stood by the nearest window and held the ring up to the light. She frowned, it was so cool that she could have what she wanted, but what good was getting what you wanted when you had to wear such an ugly ring?

"Oh well," she sighed and was just about to slip the ring back onto her finger when she heard John let out a deep grunt which was followed by Chad yelling. Becca turned and saw her boyfriend holding Chad in the air over his head.

"Are you going to apologize?" John yelled. "You didn't know I was this strong, did you?" John began to press Chad's body up and down with ease. Becca saw that the sleeves of John's shirt were pulled right around his enormous arms. Small splits were beginning to form as his biceps and triceps pumped and worked against the thin fabric.

Clem was circling John trying to find a way to get Chad down. He reached up and grabbed John's hand trying to pry his grip off of Chad. John shot Clem an angry look and, quick as a flash, shifted Chad's body so that it was on his right shoulder freeing his left hand. He then used said left hand to grab Clem around the throat and lift him off the ground.

John smiled and began to walk towards Becca, showing off his new strength but his feet got caught up and he tripped. The last thing Becca thought before John, Clem and Chad crashed into her was, "Is John bigger?"

The two boys crash landed on Becca causing the hand holding the ring to fly back sending the little source of power to sail out the window.

Alexandra York was sitting at the coffee shop patio at the student union near the dorms reading a book. At least she had been reading up until that ungrateful bitch Pam Brent and her friend Sara Gates sat down at the table right behind her. Pam was, as usual, complaining about her boyfriend, Mark.

Alex had known Mark since the two of them were in grade school and had harbored a very large crush on him ever since. The two of them had been friends for a while but had drifted apart around High School. Alex never held it against him, though, he was busy with his track and field events and she could never be mad at him. Alex still saw him around and frequently saw Pam with him, but whenever she saw Pam on her own she was always complaining about Mark. She didn't trust him and was convinced that he was always checking out other girls or looking for some one else to "trade up to."

This kind of talk always made Alex's blood boil. How dare that spoiled bitch talk down about Mark. Pam didn't know how good she had it to be able to spend so much time with such a wonderful and sexy man. All Alex wanted to do was make him happy and let him know how amazing he was.

The trouble was that Alex wasn't pretty, and she was very aware of this fact. She could be described as plain at best and though she was tall (just under 5 foot 9 inches) she was nothing but skin and bones. Added to that was the fact that her face was sallow and angular, her hair was dark brown and ratty and oily. And so she kept her distance from her crush.

But now, listening to that whiny little brat talk crap on Mark yet again was enough to send her over the edge. Alex was just about to get up and give Pam a piece of her mind when something landed on her table.

Alex set her book down and found a gold ring sitting there. She picked it up and examined it. It wasn't the nicest looking ring she'd ever seen, in fact it was slightly dingy and a little dented. Such a shame that someone would just toss this away because it wasn't the prettiest ring out there. The ring reminded Alex of herself, discarded for being ugly. She slid it on her finger and the world became brighter.

"Oh my god," she whispered to herself. "You're no ordinary ring, are you."

"Whatever you want can be yours," came a response in her mind.

Alex smiled wide. "That's good, because there are a lot of things that I want."
