Chapter #4

Becca's next date with John

Becca’s next date with John

It was Friday night.  From Becca’s perspective, so long as she had been dating football players Friday night hadn’t been much fun.  Like most of the other players, John always insisted on an early night, with no sex, so that he was rested and fully “charged” for Saturday’s game.  But in the new world she had created, where men did not play competitive sports, John was free Friday to take her out.  Although it felt strange, it was nice, better than hanging out with the girls, or washing her hair, or, especially, studying.

She wanted to go to the movies but John was strangely reluctant, even when she offered to let him choose. “I don't know, Becca.  Are you sure it’s a good idea?  You know what could happen in a dark movie theater.”

“Really?  What?” Becca asked, looking up at him “innocently”, while snuggling into his strong body and grinding her hip seductively against his crotch. “What bad thing can happen?”

John sighed.  “Well, if you insist,” he said, but he looked worried.

Even though Becca had told John to pick any movie he wanted, he couldn’t name any one he wanted to see, so they ended up at the latest rom-com, “Losing It”. John stuck close to her once they arrived.  He was virtually the only man at the theater, and Becca felt a little bad making him see what was obviously such an “chick-flick”.  She resolved to make it worth his while. He wanted to go right to their seat in the dark.  Becca thought was cute that he was so eager, but making him wait a little would only make him more so.

“Why don't you get us some popcorn while I excuse myself for a minute?” she suggested, giving him a little squeeze.

John seemed to go pale.  “Do you ... have to?” he asked, looking around the theater nervously.

Becca rolled her eyes.  “Yes I do.  Just find us some seats in the back.  You know why!” she smiled and gave him a quick kiss before turning away.  She didn't have to turn around to know John was watching her round ass wiggle as she walked toward the ladies’ room.

John walked tentatively to the snacks counter.  All around him girls were staring at him and giggling.  He tried to ignore them and what they were saying.

“What's she thinking!”

“He’s cute!”

“I’d take him with my Combo!”

“I just don't see why she wants to get rid of him.”

John looked anxiously back at the bathrooms, but she was still inside, probably on one of those long female lines.  He was sweating.  It was almost his turn.  Three high school girls were in front of him, turning around and looking at him and whispering to each other.  They ordered and left, and he bought the popcorn.  Becca still wasn't out.  He was carrying the popcorn into the theater, when it suddenly started feeling heavier.  Oh no!  A feminine arm hooked around his and pulled him to the side.  Another hand lifted the popcorn from his grasp.  Two more hands pushed him from behind, propelling him to an empty part of the building.  It was the girls who had been in front of him.

“You’re cute.  Are you in college?” said the first, a skinny blonde girl.

“What are you doing all alone, sweetie?” said the second, who was dark-haired and busty.  She leaned into him and almost knocked him down.

“Why’d your girlfriend leave you?” said the third.  She had bright red hair and wore a halter top that showed off her toned abs and traced her finger down his chest.

“Please let me go,” he said.  “She’ll be right out.”

“Naah.  I'm sure she left.  If she wanted you she’d of stayed with you,” the busty one said, and the other girls nodded.  “We didn't think we’d find a guy like you here tonight, or we would've dressed up more.”

“Which of us do you like best?” the redhead asked.  “Amanda’s the smartest, I’m the fittest, and Geri’s got the hooters.” The three laughed.

“You should know it’s not safe for a guy to be out alone at night.  We thought we should take care of you, since she left you,” explained the blonde.  “It’s only right.”

“Yes, I know,” John said.  “But I didn't want to come, and I didn't want her to leave me.”

“You see!  You need us!” said the redhead.

“Or at least one of us,” the blonde added.  “to hold your strength and keep you safe.”

“Which one of you has it?” John asked.

“Guess!” said Geri, twisting her torso to show off her bust.

“Tell us who you like best and then we’ll tell you.”

“I bet you like Geri best,” said Amanda.  “Boys always do.  That girl you came with is even bigger, but Geri’s are nice.”

“She’s very pretty,” the redhead said.  “But she must be pretty stupid, or just mean.  By the way, I’m Angela.”

“What are you doing here?!  The movie’s about to start!” Becca said, looking very annoyed.

“You’re still here!?” Geri said, disappointed.

“What could I do?  You left me alone, and one of these three took my strength!  They, uh, wanted me to leave with them, thinking you might have abandoned me,” John said dropping his voice as he spoke, trying to keep his anger under control.  He had to be careful.  If he was angry at the girls they might not give him his strength back, and if he blamed Becca she would punish him later.

Becca was confused.  John didn't do anything to these girls.  Why had they taken his strength away?

“If you wanted him, why did you leave him?” Amanda asked.

“We were just taking care of him, and his strength,” Geri added.

“Yeah, lots of other girls might have taken him.  They were all looking at him,” Angela said.

“All right.  All right.  Just give him back his strength.  All of it,” Becca said in a highly-pitched, demanding voice.  John stood straighter.  “Now get out of here!” she said even more loudly.  The girls laughed at Becca and then sauntered away, looking hard at John.

“I’m sorry, darling.  I didn't think anybody would do such a thing to you!” she said, snuggling next to him.

John put his arm around her.  “Yeah, Becca, well, ok.  But, I mean, Jeez, this is exactly why I didn't want to go out!  Why do you think there aren't any guys here?”

“Because ... because ... it’s a chick flick!” she said.

John stared at her as though he only now perceived that she was a complete idiot.  Becca blushed deep red.  She could tell what he was thinking.  But how could she explain that all this was completely new to her, that even though she had “made” this world (which she couldn't reveal anyway!) she had no idea how things worked?  It was all so embarrassing!

The problem was, these girls were taking away John’s strength without any good reason.  That wasn't fair!  Girls could be mean, of course, and weren't always trustworthy, but Becca had made this change to protect them, not so that they could steal people’s boyfriends, or bully guys or stop them from playing sports!

The lobby was empty.  The movie had begun.  “So, uh, Becca, what are we doing?” John said.  “Do you still want to see the movie?  I bet all the seats at the back are taken.”

Becca knew she could fix that in a second with the ring, but she wasn't in the mood.  She was feeling too stupid.  “No, let’s just go back,  I'm really sorry.  Will you forgive me?”  Still holding onto him, she leaned away slightly, letting him look down her blouse.  He looked, automatically, but his heart wasn't in it.  Now Becca was really concerned.  Making the world a better place was important, but she didn't want to lose John.  Not this way.

The problem was, John was her boyfriend, and those girls had no right to interfere.  They should have minded their own business.  As long as John was going out with her, then no other girl should be able to take his strength away.  Then they could go out together, and he wouldn't have to worry.  She smiled at how easy it was.

“I want to change things again,” she told the ring, “so that if a guy is going out with someone, or is married or something, then only that girl can take his strength away.  So, basically, only the girl he’s closest to will have the power to take his strength. That will be fairer.”

“If you say so,” the ring replied.

There was a shimmer in the fabric of the universe, and now we see what Becca’s decision does for guys who are ...
