When the door opens, you see it was Chloe's sister who answered. "Oh hi, um...." you pause mid sentence, having never gotten Chloe's sister's name. "It's Cora." She says " My mom and my sister are out doing errands right now. Want to come in?" You step inside and sit on the sofa in the living room. "So, my sister gave you grandma's ring. do you still have it?" You take the ring from around your neck and hold it up. "Yep. This'll show your sister she can trust me."
"Oh no it won't!"
Without warning, Cora grabs the ring and yanks it out of your hand, then takes off through the house. "Cora! Get back here!" You cry as you run after her. Being a cat, Cora was much faster than you, so she was easily able to keep ahead of you. Sometimes you would come around a corner just barely in time to see her tail disappear around another. "Cora! Give me back that ring! Chloe will never speak to me again if I don't give it back!"
"That's the idea!"
Finally, you lose track of Cora, and search all over the house for her. "Cora, I don't have time for your games!" After several minutes of searching you find Cora in the hallway closet. "Alright, I found you, now give me the ring!" Cora smirks "That was never part of the game." "Goddammit Cora, Chloe could be home at any minute! Give it to me now!"
"I can't. I haven't got it."
Cora holds out her hands to show you that they're empty. "Where is it?" "I've hidden it somewhere in the house. If you find it in time, then my sister might go out with you after all. If not, and she hates your guts for losing her ring, then you can always have me instead." So that's what this was about. Cora wanted you as her boyfriend, and was jealous of Chloe. With a grunt of frustration, you search every nook and cranny of the house as fast as you can, but after an hour, you still haven't found it.
Your heart stops beating for a second as you hear a car pulling into the driveway outside. Chloe was home! With no time left, you turn to Cora and say "If you don't tell me where that ring is, I'm going to tell Chloe it was you that lost it." Cora just smiles and says "Fine. I'll tell you where it is...."
