Chapter #3

A Test of Love

    by: Unknown
Okay, Chloe said she wasn't sure. That didn't mean she would go out with you, but it didn't mean she wouldn't either, so you still have a chance! "Tell you what, come to my house at seven tonight, and I'll tell you if I've made my decision then."

"Alright. Fair enough."

You say your goodbyes, and turn around and head back down the hall towards Ramona. "So Cassanova, how did it go?" She asks teasingly. "Can't really say." You reply "She said she'd think about it, and tell me later tonight." "Well, at least there's a possibility of her dating you, that's more than most other guys who ask her out can say."

"Other guys?"

"Oh yeah, dozens of guys have asked her out, but she usually turns them down. Who knows, maybe you'll get lucky."

So, later that evening, you approach Chloe's house and knock on the door. When the door opens, standing in the doorway is what looks to be a smaller version of Chloe, except her hair is in pigtails. "Hello?"

"Hi, is Chloe here?"

"Chloe! There's a human boy here to see you!"

Chloe comes down the stairs and shoos the smaller cat away. "Was that..." "My little sister, yes. Come with me." You follow Chloe upstairs into her room. "So, have you made up your mind if you want to go out or not?" Chloe doesn't respond. Instead, she starts rummaging through an ornate jewlery box on her dresser.

"Do you know why I asked you to come here?"

"So you tell tell me if you decided to date me or not."

"No. What I really to do, was to give you this."

She holds up a simple golden ring. "Whoa whoa whoa!" You say "I only asked for a date, don't you think it's way too soon to get married?" "That's not what this is for." She says, sounding somewhat annoyed. "In our culture, when a male wants to be engaged, so to speak, to a female, she gives him a test to prove to her whether she can trust him or not." She places the ring in your palm and closes your fist around it. "This ring belonged to my grandmother, and means very much to me. Your test, is to take this ring, and keep it with you at all times. If you return it to me in one week, no more, no less, then I shall go out with you."

You eagerly accept, thinking that this would be simple, and you would have Chloe as your girlfriend before you knew it. How hard could keeping a ring in your pocket be?

How very wrong you were.

The next day, as you're exiting the school to head home, you reach into your pocket for what must be the umpteenth time that day, to make sure the ring is still there.

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. The ring is gone! (you dropped it)

2. The ring is gone! (it's been stolen)

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
