"Sure!" you say a little too enthusiastically. "I'd love to go with you!"
"What's with the sudden attitude change?" Chloe asks suspiciously.
In your mind, you frantically try to find an excuse to prevent Chloe from finding out that you liked her.
"Eh, that's no matter. Well, I'd better get going." she says. "My dad gets antsy when I spend too much time at a friend's house, especially a friend that's a boy." You tell her goodbye, disappointed that she couldn't stay any longer.
THURSDAY AFTERNOON..........................
It was lunchtime, and you were outside looking around for where Ramona and Colin were sitting. Just then, you see them waving at you.
"So, how's it going?" Colin asks.
"Pretty good. Can't take my mind off the dance." you say.
"Okay, before you send me on a guilt trip, I admit it. I was wrong." Ramona says.
You give her a confused look. "What do you mean?"
"I was wrong when I said that Chloe was only going to your house to study." she admits.
"Well, I hope you've learned something, missy." you say, mockingly.
"Don't push your luck, [your name]." she says back.
"Speaking of luck," Colin says. "It looks like ours just ran out."
You and Ramona turn around to see what Colin was talking about, then looks of disgust form on both your faces. Luke was approaching the table where you three were sitting. All three of you thought the same thing: "What the hell does this douchebag want?"
"Well, well, well," he says, in his usual condescending manner. "If it isn't Nerdy, Fatty, and Earthy. The gang's all here." You, Ramona, and Colin roll your eyes at his pathetic excuse for a diss. He pays no attention and continues talking. "What's this I hear about [your name] and Chloe going to the dance?" he asks.
"NONE OF YOUR GODDAMN BUSINESS, THAT"S WHAT!" Colin shouts standing up.
Luke calmly looks at him and says: "You face looks red, mousy-boy. Got a fever?" Colin sits back down, embarrassed.
Ramona stands up and looks Luke right in the eye. "Back off, if you know what's good for you." she threatens.
"Temper, temper." Luke says with a grin. "I just came in to give Earth Boy here a little advice."
"Like I need any advice from you." you said.
"Tsk, tsk. That mouth of yours will get you into trouble one of these days. You should watch yourself." Luke remarks. "I just wanted to tell you to keep away from Chloe. She's mine."
"Wait a sec," Colin says. "I thought you were going with my older sister Eileen."
"What does that have to do with anything." Luke says. "Well, I think I've been around you freaks long enough. I'd better go." Then he walks off.
"Yeah, keep fronting, you little bitch! You're not fooling anyone!" Ramona called out to him.
Luke responds by giving her the finger without even turning around to look at her. It took you and Colin to hold Ramona back after that.
After she calms herself down, she looks at Colin with a grin. "So, miss 'queen bee twelfth grader' is going to the dance with Luke?" she asks him.
"Yeah..." he replies.
"What do you mean 'queen bee'?" You ask Ramona.
"She's the most popular furry on campus, and she's the one who organizes all the Friday meetings." she explains.
"Oh, so that's why Colin knows so much about them." you say.
"Yup." he says with a shy smile.
"Wait, I forgot to ask," you say to your mouse friend. "Who are you going to the dance with?"
He got nervous and started to stutter. "W-well..... you see, I............ w-was gonna g-go to the d-dance with-"
Ramona cut him off and rolled her eyes with a smile. Then she turned to you. "He's going with me."
You spit the soda out of your mouth. "You!?" you say in surprise.
"Yeah," she said. "He finally manned up and admitted he had feeling for me, and to be honest, I feel the same about him."
".....................................wow" was all you managed to say.
The following night, you arrive at Chloe's house. You knock on the door, and who answers?
