A qaurter turn of a wheel,
that’s all I needed to feel,
the tarmac and the road,
... the weight of her load,
stood empty on my pockets,
seamless like rockets,
shuttering and whistling,
groaning in her pain I’m listening...
A tear shapes itself from my eyes,
hands on the wheel and thoughts on the skies,
where you were and what you did,
how I could just bear the dream of it.
You covered that distance of life with a smile,
more alive and vibrant than a car worth its mile.
of your hands their touch to gold
and touch I steel I feel only cold...
You were there, in its hulk,
this rusty old thing, a tired old bulk,
were you slept to calm to ease your mind,
when I close my eyes in there, it’s you I reach to find...
It’s not for me, but what to do
when I look to the heavens so hazy and blue?
Could let go, let her lay,
then again, just another day...
My hands are gripped, these feet are worn,
to feel defeated every morn,
to turn the key, the choke to start
when things go wrong it breaks my heart.
To let go the simplest of words
but just you’ll know how deep it hurts
not to know on what to do,
when I can’t bear the thought of losing you...
