"Jeremy," Michael's mother Cindy called, stepping into the room. "I just got off the phone with your mom. She said that your brother Melody is welcome to stay the night, but you need to come home now."
"What?" Jeremy asked stunned. "Didn't she mean Melody has to come home?"
"No, Melody is old enough to stay our as long as he wants. Come on now young lady, my husband has offered to walk you home since it's gotten dark."
"Okay," Jeremy said numbly as he got up to leave. "We'll have to pick up the game again later..."
"Okay, take care Jeremy," Philip said, eager to get Jeremy out of the room. "Hey, Mrs. Ferguson," Philip said turning to Michael's mom. "Since Jeremy has to go home, would you like to take over his... er... her seat?"
