"My body... it's gone..." you hear a female voice cry. "What am I going to do now?"
"I'm sorry, it was attacking me, I only defended myself..." you knew this was somewhat your fault.
The other orb turned towards you and collided into you, causing you pain. "This is your fault then!" She kept darting into you as you tried to fly away from her.
"Your body was on its last legs anyway," a male voice said. "It wasn't going to survive the Warlock's raids. I've seen him destroy plenty of bodies like yours, even when they were still healthy, to restore the fighters."
The female soul, darted away, leaving you behind.
"We're all suffering here," he said to you. "Some of us have been inside here for years, others it's just been a few weeks. We'll see many more people join us and leave us in the coming war."
"Leave?" Your hopes were raised. "We can get out of here."
The male orb was silent for a few seconds, though without a body you couldn't read their body language, though you gathered silence meant something bad.
"Leave, was probably the wrong term, consumed is more accurate. Not only does he steal our bodies for his army, he consumes souls for his spells. That's all any of us are here for. We're a fuel source for his magics, nothing more."
"But this can't be it, there must be a way out?!"
"Perhaps if the amulet was destroyed but even then, some of us don't have bodies to go back to and I'm more than certain some souls of existing bodies are now gone."
"So the only way out is for someone outside to rescue us and even then we might not return to who we were?"
The male orb flew off, without another word, leaving you there hopeless. Now you understood why none of the others spoke.
You feared for your wife now, your village would likely be attacked next and everyone in there would likely join you. You wished that someone could kill the warlock and set you free. You wish would be answered....
