Since the war had started a few years ago against a rebellious faction, ships had been lost on all sides. The ship you were commanding was definately not the biggest ship in the navy, but it was a special one.
I.F.O.H Blade-Class Frigate 'Rising Dawn'
"Well, she is a beauty" You said, walking onto the loading elevator which was currently extended. Several servicemen were struggling to tie down a large vehicle that resembled a tank onto the loading ramp, although the tank was perfectly fit for the job, the servicemen were rookies and it took far longer to finish the job than it would have taken a group of battle-seasoned veterans. One of the rookie servicemen noticed you standing in the corner of the large elevator and ushered the rest of them to hurry up. You almost felt like telling them to take their time and get it right. You were in no rush.
Finally, they finished and the loading ramp slowly started to ascend into the ship. You looked down before the gap closed and saw just how many people were rushing about to get this ship ready for departure. So many people who were going to be under your command. You looked around the hangar in which you were now in. It was basically divided into two parts, where the elevator was and where everything else was stored.
This ship wasnt big enough for a battalion of fighters, but it did have two brand new landing craft which were outfitted with a few light weapons for ground combat. You walked out of the hangar and headed for the bridge. People were moving too and fro, installing the last bits of walling and making sure that everything was locked tight. As soon as they saw your rank though, they immediately stopped and saluted. You hated that. Saluting always drove you nuts. So you quickly waved them off and told them to keep working.
The bridge was just as busy, as people finished installing the last few parts and ensured that all the systems were functioning and their expected capacity. A man was about to yell "Captain On Deck" but you silenced him. You were certain that the best way to see how your crew truly worked was to see them when they thought you were not around.
You left the bridge and headed for your own dormitory, conveniently located just outside the bridge. Sitting down in your own personal armchair which you had brought from your dormitory in the academy, you brought up the ship schematics to review them and help yourself memorise. It was uncommon for captains to change ships unless their previous ship was retiring or too badly damaged.

Your ship was impressive, and you were more than happy to be in charge of 449 crew members - you being crew member #450: The Captain.
The ship was the first of its class, with only another 19 expected. It was a special class, designed specifically to work alone with the intention of causing as much harm to the enemy while also being a legendary symbol of peace, small for its size, big on versatility.
The computer bleeped at you, saying a new call was coming in from I.F.O.H Command.
"Morning Captain. I see you seem to be still fitting in that armchair of yours quite well" Fleet Commander Jason Horst said. He was your tutor briefly at the captains academy and you were quite glad that he was the first person to be talking to you.
"Thank you Commander. There's nothing like a captains chair"
"Don't wear it down too well. You can replace a good chair easily"
"I'll keep that in mind" You said happily. "How can I help you today?"
"Well, I'm sure your settling into your ship now, but I decided to give you the first chance to pick one of three missions since you'll be the first ship out of dock for the next few days. Your welcome to spend a few hours mulling over them but when you do decide, you'll be heading out as soon as everyone on that fine ship of yours gives you the green light.
