"How many items is that?" I asked the woman as she approached the change-rooms. When I heard the response, I gave her the matching tile with a large 3 displayed prominently on it.
This was what typically happened when I was working. Quite monotonous. Sometimes, I was asked to fold the clothes that the customers decided not to purchase after trying it on. And then there were the inventory days. Those were the worst. But it was a job.
I leaned onto my podium to try to take some of the weight off my feet. They didn't like it when you sat down while you were on the clock.
One of the change-room doors opened and closed as the woman returned and dropped everything back on my counter. She seemed upset.
