How could I possibly go ten days in just the clothes I had on?! Not only would they fall apart from the constant use, but I liked to wear different things!
"Mom! I can't wear just this for ten days straight! They'll be tatters in the end of the vacation!"
Mom turned to me and I could see she was annoyed.
"Young lady, your Father and I did our hardest to include you on this trip. You should be greatful for the clothes you have as some immigrants do have even that much. I can't believe you're making a big deal out of this."
"A big deal? This is all I have to wear! How can I show myself when I want to change for something, and I'm still wearing the same outfit?"
I should have kept my big mouth shut, but it was a big deal to me. I mean, I liked dressing differently.
Mom was silent for a few moments, then...
"Give me your shirt Erica."
"What?!" I couldn't believe what I heard
"I said, give me your shirt. If you're so concerned about your clothes, you can fell what it's like for the poor immigrants who have less. Now give it here." she demanded
Wishing this was just some trick to teach me a lesson, and would get it back immediately, I blushed deeply as I slipped my shirt from my body, right there in the crowded gate to our plane. The worst part was, I had not planned ahead for this sudden change and had not put on a bra. Now blushing hard, I wrapped my arms about my bare breasts, trying to hide them.
Worst of all, I realized she was serious as she took my only top and stuffed it into her bag, zipping it up. So there I sat in my seat as we waited for the plane, topless. She then turned to me and noticed my attire, or lack there of.
"Honestly Erica, don't you wear your bras? We bought them for you for a reason. Well you'll just have to deal with it for now."
