This choice: Skip to when they're already at Sweet Apple Acres • Go Back...Chapter #8Skip to when they're already at Sweet Apple... by: Puffy   The walk over from library to Sweet Apple Acres had been mostly uneventful for the two unicorns, the only interruption being a drawn out conversation with Ditzy Doo the resident mail mare about muffins and the accomplishments of her daughters Sparkler and Dinky. After sending the grey pegasus on her way though they spent the rest of the walk taking in the sights and smells of the warm winter day as they approached the apple farm.
"Well howdy girls, it sure is good to see ya'll," Applejack waved to them from the front porch of the farm house. "Ah've been waiting for ya'll, there's some good hot coco inside if ya'll want some as well as some nice fresh picked apples." The orange farm pony couldn't help but chuckle as she saw Trixie's face light up at the mention of food. Together the three friends step inside and into the kitchen where three mugs of steaming warm coco sat on the table along with a big basket of apples and surprisingly, a newly baked apple pie.
"Wow AJ you didn't have to fix all this for us," Twilight started to say a bit embarrassed, but Trixie hushed her with a hoof. "Oh Applejack that pie simply looks delicious, and those apples are scrumptious." the rotund unicorn said as she eyed the display of food and drink hungrily, a fact that didn't escape the cowpony's attention.
"Heehee whoa there partner, you gotta leave some for the rest of us now." Applejack said with a chuckle as the three mares took their seats at the table. Trixie merely nodded in acknowledgement as she was already chewing on a piece of pie. AJ and Twilight both giggled as they sipped their cups of coco.
"So Twi," Applejack began after cutting them each a piece of pie. "How's getting a show gig for Trixie been going?"
The purple unicorn sighed as she took a long sip of coco, "Not good I'm afraid, every place we've tried is either booked or won't even give her a second look." she answered dejectedly. "Even when I try to explain how the whole you know what wasn't completely her fault we usually get told to go home." the young scholar pony taking care not to mention the word Usra in the presence of her magician friend. "It seems as though nopony wants to give her a chance."
"Oh Twi you know how picky and stubborn some of them fancy ponies can be, " Applejack responded taking a small bite of her pie. "Have ya'll tried writing to the Princess about this, surely she can do something to help. I know overcoming a big slip up like that whole you know what business ain't easy, but she can't just stay in the library and eat snacks all day... no offense Trixie." the farmer added for the sake of her portly friend.
"Mmmff, none taken" the chubby blue mare said as she wolfed down her fifth piece of apple pie. Her already bloated belly was noticeably bigger from her current binge, as were her hips and rear. Applejack and Twilight both couldn't help but chuckle as Trixie let out a small belch before grabbing another juicy apple with her magic and all but devouring it in one hearty bite.
"Anyway," Twilight said turning back to Applejack. "Writing to the Princess sounds like it could work, the only thing is everypony even her tends to be busy this time of year with the preparations for the Hearts and Hooves day and the Winter Wrap Up celebrations in Canterlot. But I know she'll take some time out to help us, what do you think Trixie?" The purple unicorn asked her busily snacking friend, who nodded her acceptance before returning to polishing off the last remaining apples.
"Alright then it's settled," Twilight stated proudly. "When we get back to the library I'll have Spike write a letter asking Princess Celestia to see if she find a place that will let Trixie preform. After all nopony can say no to the Princess right?" Both the farmer and show pony nodded in agreement. Besides when was the last time anyone had gotten in the way Celestia giving her star pupil and her friends a helping hoof?
Twenty Minutes Later.
"Thanks you ever soo much for the coco and apples Applejack," Twilight said as the three ponies walked towards the door after the conclusion of their lunch gathering.
"And if Trixie may add, that apple pie was spectacularly delicious." Trixie added warmly. "We shall certainly do this again, tomorrow perhaps?"
"Ah it ain't nothing girls, ya'll welcome anytime here at Sweet Apple Acres." Applejack replied, "Though next ah need to fix more than one pie so they're be enough for all of us." she added with a chuckle, the two unicorns joining in for a laugh or two before departing.
"Wow that pie was pretty good," Twilight said. "though me and Applejack each only got to eat one piece," she added.
Trixie just gave her a smug smile in response as she waddled along side, not feeling one bit guilty about her binge.
"Anyways, we better get back so we can compose our letter for the Princess and send it today, that way we'll have time to come up with ideas for a performance in case she writes back with some good news. Not that she won't of course," the scholar mare added. "I'm sure some theater close by will agree to give you a chance."
"If they're anything like the simpletons who run the Trottingham theater Trixie wouldn't bet on it, " the tubby showmare answered with a slight frown before suddenly brightening. "Besides Trixie feels that a nice large milk shake from the Sugarcube Corner would help inspire her."
"But Trixie you already ate a whole basket of apples and most of Applejack's pie," Twilight started to protest but Trixie quickly shushed her.
"Trixie already said she's only accompanying you just to get a healthy snack," the fat blue unicorn said sternly, "and if that includes a milk shake and some donuts than that's what Trixie will be having!"
"Ugh fine," Twilight said sighing and noting that Trixie has added donuts to the menu. "Though after all this you're definitely gonna have to lose some of that stomach." she added the last part while giving Trixie a meaningful stare.
Trixie just smiled back smugly as the two ponies approached the bakery.
