Never one to shirk the chance of getting an advantage over others, especially considering the frequency she was being defeated by her teenage rival lately, Shego decided it was time to get an upgrade on her powers. She scoured every bit of information she could from the article before expanding her search beyond it. The stone was at that moment being held in a lab at Go City University, where it would be studied by the finest minds in their fields in less than a week. More than enough time to plan a heist.
Three days later
After studying the floor plans of the building in which the stone was kept, and memorizing the guards' routine carefully, Shego executed her plan. It was after midnight, and the security detail around the stone was about to rotate and provide the ideal opportunity to steal the glowing rock. Once the eggheads got there the next morning there would be too many people and guards around to have a shot at it, so this was her best chance to claim the stone.
Shego entered through the ventilation system on the roof, and slipped into a lab that shared a wall with her destination. Going through the door was not an option given the armed detail that patrolled the halls around it, but with a little creative application of her powers she could burn a hole in the wall between her and the rock without so much as a sound to alert them. Charging up her hands with the power and heat necessary to perform the task, she raked her palms along the drywall until it sloughed off like paraffin wax in between her fingers.
Five minutes of heat assisted digging later and she stood before the stone, which glowed a bright gold light that was as brilliant as the sun. The thief had to shake herself out of the awe she had fallen into and quickly snatched up the space rock in her clawed hands, tearing it from the sealed glass container with an energized fist. Once her glow met the meteor's both reacted to each other, and Shego's normal green aura was replaced by the gold one of her prize for a brief moment. Then came the secondary reaction, in which the air around her distorted and burst like thunder.
The guards were in the lab seconds later, and had weapons drawn on Shego. Three individuals had a bead on her, two brawny men in their twenties and an athletic woman in of the same age, but all of them flinched back for a moment once the criminal leveled a confident glare at them. Shego's normally green eyes now sported a golden halo around the iris which took the place of the white and sent shivers through the bodies of the security detail. As if knowing exactly what to do, she raised her golden cloaked hand and unleashed her new power.
