Chapter #5Welcome Home Tionishia by: Jr.Freak Tio felt anxious. A hundred questions kept roaming around her head as she began to reconsider her choices and decision.
'What if he doesn't like me' Tio asked herself, 'What if he thinks I'm to big or fat?' She glanced to her left and her faded reflection in the car window and saw her reflection and felt her heart sink as she looked at her reflection. Tio wasn't like most normal women in Japan, in fact she looked nothing like them and at the back of her mind that bothered her. Tio was what was commonly referred to as a Demi-Human in the modern world, and she was a common species ogre, but contrary to popular belief she looked nothing like the folklore depicted across the world. The only similarity Ogres had with images that depicted them was their height and size, and that's what bothered Tio.
No one had ever described her as short. Everyone she had ever met would look at her and focus on her height and size, and after that they would immediately look up and focus on the large black horn that was protruding from her forehead. She glanced at her reflection and saw the horn sticking out from beneath the red beret she was wearing. Tio hoped that the bright red cap would some how distract anyone who glanced at her, but deep down she knew everyone would be looking at it and her. Tio finally pulled herself away from the car window and looked back down at her hands, wondering what the boy in the picture would think of her as soon as he saw her.
Tio could have looked at the photo for the rest of her life, but her attention was quickly pulled from it as she heard someone calling out her name. "Yes? What?" She said as she looked up ward and across the car at the raven hair woman that was her Official Species Coordination, and former boss, Kuroko Smith. Tio saw that she was looking directly at her, glancing over her government issued MIB glass, with a concerned look on her face "I asked if you were okay"
"Oh yes, of course I'm okay" Tio replied with her usual cheerful grin, hoping to hide her anxiety and fear beneath it. "Are you sure about that?" Zombina asked, suddenly sitting up beside tanned skin giant. Tio looked to her left and saw that zombified red-head was finally waking up from her nap, letting out a imposing yawn while stretching out her stitched limbs.
"Cause you've been unusually quiet for most of this drive" the zombie groaned, now finally awake and fiddling with her limbs, mumbling that the black thread was starting to come undone on her right arm. "Tio, are you sure you want to do this. We understand if you want to withdraw from the program" Ms. Smith said, slightly leaning forward, attempting to offer the ogre any form of compassion that she could offer.
"She's right, no one would hold it against you if you didn't go through with it. I know me and the ladies would be happy if you stayed" the zombine girl said as she massaged her left thigh, making sure her hands did not catch on the stiches that were bidning her limbs together.
Tio looked between the two women and was touched that they both cared so much for her. Tio thought about it for a moment and wondered if she should step out of the exchange program and get her old job back at M.O.N, but when she ran her finger over photo in her hand her doubts were set aside for the moment as the image reassured her that she was doing the right thing. "No, I'm sure about this and I'll be okay, but I sure am going to miss everyone" Tio said as she glanced back out the window.
"We're going to miss you too, but that doesn't mean we can visit each other. Your only a half-hour away from us" Zombina said, holding up her hand and aiming her thumb back in the direction the car had come from.
"She's right, I've made special arraignments for you to come and visit us whenever you want, and you won't even need to be escorted by your host" Ms. Smith said, pleased that she had brought such a wide smile to the gentle ogres face. Tio thanked Ms. Smith profusely and would have given her a big hug had it not been for her own overwhelming strength. Tio could still remember the first time she hugged a human and how it didn't go well for her, and since then Tio promised herself she would do everything she could to hold back.
She looked back down at the photo again and wondered if she could hold back. "Tio, what is with you and that picture?" Zombina asked, no longer able to hold back her curiosity.
"Oh it-its nothing, just an old photo of me, that's all!" Tio exclaimed, quickly moving the picture behind her back, while her cheeks flushed red. Zombina glared at the ogre, her eyes clearly stating that Tio was full of it and that she had better show it to her. Tio chuckled nervously as she handed the photo over to her former-field officer, wishing she had the willpower to resist the zombies icy glare. With surprising speed, Zombina yanked the photo out of Tio's hand and leaned back in her seat to view the photo.
"Wow" was the only word that came out of Zombina as she looked at the picture. "Who on earth is this cutie? I mean I could just eat him up!" Zombina said with to much excitement in her voice, while a spot of drool appeared in the corner of her lip.
"Here take a look for your self, ain't he a cutie" Zombina said as she flipped the photo over to show Ms. Smith. The Coordinator eyed the photo and simply smiled at the photo of the young man. "You should see him in person, much cuter than this photo gives him credit for" Ms. Smith took the photo from Zombina and took a quick look at it and admired the young man in it.
"You've meet him already?" Zombina asked before she realized that of course Ms. Smith knew him, she had to do the interview.
"Yes, his name is Yuuta Hime and not only is hey Tio's host, but he is also our resident Demi-Human Medical Specialist" Zombina flipped the picture over and took a good look at the Yuuta and couldn't help but question his overall appearance.
(General Appearance: https://www.zerochan.net/2334032#full )
Yuuta clearly looked young and Zombina wasn't sure why but he didn't look particularly tall either, but his charming face and icy blue eyes more than made up for that. Zombina couldn't place her finger on it, but she knew that beneath all that charm and clean-cut face. "So he's a doctor and he specialize in Demi-Human's" Zombina stated as if she were imposing a question. "That's right and according to his records he might be the youngest doctor in history" Ms. Smith watched Zombina's eyes grow in surprise. "Your kidding, how old is he?"
Ms. Smith held a hand to her chin to act as if she had no idea how old Yuuta was, but before she could say anything Tio spoke up "He's 17"
"WHAT!" Zombina shouted looking back at the picture in wonder "Isn't he a little young to be hosting a Demi-Human?"
"Under normal circumstances he wouldn't be, but I am doing this as a personal favor" Ms. Smith said slyly, while glancing over at Tio, whose face took a on a dark shade of color. Zombina picked up on Smith's hint and looked at Tio "Tio do you know this guy?"
The ogre couldn't help but look out the window and away from Zombina and Ms. Smith "Maybe...sort of" she mumbled. "How?" Zombina asked, but before she could pry the answer out of ogre Ms. Smith spoke up and said something that took Zombina by surprise. "There old lovers" she chirped as a eerie silence came over the two Demi-Human's, who both looked at each in disbelief. No one spoke at first, but Zombina had to break the silence first and asked "This shorty is your boyfriend?"
"No-no-no-no-no-no" Tio repeated as she finally yanked the photo out of Zombina's hand and held on to it for dear life "Were just friends, whenever Yuuta's parents came to the Demi-Human reservation he would go with them and-and we would just spend time together!" Tio spoke said rapidly, trying to burry her embarrassment beneath logic, but that did little to hold Zombina's curiosity. "If that's true then why haven't I ever met him? We grew up in this some reservation Tio, I think I would remember seeing a pair of humans!"
"Actually, you wouldn't have known" Ms. Smith stated flatly drawing Zombina's attention towards her and away from Tio. "Yuuta and his family were brought to the reservation to learn more about Demi-Human's and their anatomy. Back then, Tio's mother and Dr. Kaori were the resident doctor's and our agency wanted the finest doctors to learn from them" Ms. Smith explained as Tio quietly chimed into the conversation.
"You see back then, my mother would host the seminars for humans but they were private sessions, so no one really knew much about it" Zombina was getting the general idea of the conversation. Before the Exchange Bill, it was considered illegal for humans to know about Demi-Humans and see them. "Okay that makes sense, but how dose Tio know this guy? Why would anyone bring a kid?"
Ms. Smith chuckled before she spoke "Let's just say Yuuta was a handful and loved to get into things he wasn't supposed to and so was Little Tio"
Before Zombina could comment on the phrase 'Little Tio', the limo began came to a slow halt, while the limo driver stated they were here...
"Where is here?" Zombina asked as she rolled down her door window...
