Whitney just came home from a garage sale. This weird old gypsey lady just sold her a necklace for 5 dollars. Stating that all her dreams could come true. She came home to see all the pictures of Rachel on the wall. She was the star of the family. She was a head cheerleader in college and all the guys fawned over her. Whitney also knew that Rachel was the favorite in the family. She had a car, and her family loved to show her off. Meanwhile no matter how good the grades she got, she was always known as Whitney as the quite geeky girl. Senior year was suppose to be her year. But like always she was just a background player. Her sister was probably at her dorm. Meanwhile Eric her brother was at home relaxing. As the only son in the family, her father was always Erics head coach. So he received ample attention. Whitney just felt left out.
Whitney walked into Eric rooms. She wanted to joke around with Eric about this stupid necklace. She took out the necklace and swung it in front of Eric.
"you are getting really sleepy" Whiteny replied in a joking voice.
"Very sleepy". Eric replied in a monotone voice. Whitney got a confused look on her face.
"Eric, just tell me this truth, this thing isn't actually hypontizing you, is it?" Whitney said.
"It is hypnotizing me" Eric said in a monotone voice.
"Fine if it is, tell me what you think about me in terms of this family" Whitney said forcefully.
"You're just kind of there. You aren't as popular as Rachel and you're not sporty like me. You don't have much friends and you don't go out as you read books."
"Stop talking" Whitney said it was hurtful to hear the truth. Then a thought came into her head. Why should rachel be the one always popular in life? why can't even for a little bit, she be the popular one. And Rachel be the nerd.
"Eric from now on, you will remember me as being the popular family favorite of our family. You will then remember Rachel as the nerdy type, who likes to stay in and read, do you understand?".
"Yes" Eric replied.
Good Whitney thought. Now she just had to wait for Rachel to come home.
