“What should I call you?” She asked, probably to herself, as she leaned back on her chair with a clipboard.
“Jake would be nice.” You said which caused her to freeze as if she didn’t believe she just heard you speak. She then began looking around as if looking for a prankster in the room. Obviously not believing for a minute that a snake could talk.
“Who said that?” she demanded. She must not have been a costumed to pranks. She seemed equally upset as she was nervous.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” you said as her searching eyes fell on your mouth as you spoke. She would have fell down if she had walked away from her chair in her short search but instead she just slumped in her chair then leaned hesitantly forward, not exactly believing it yet.
“Did you just say something?” she asked as she went out on a limb, against her better judgment. She probably wouldn’t have even said it if others were watching but nobody was.
“Yes I did” as you said it her eyes lit up as if she had just found a huge discovery. You could see all the questions beginning to form in her head.
“How is this possible? How can you talk?”
“I don’t know, at this point you probably know more about this body than I do.” You said before realizing how confusing it was.
“What do you mean?”
“Ok this is going to be a little weird but I am going to try and explain what I had figured out so far. Last night I was sleeping in my bed and I saw a shooting star. Jokingly I wished that I would transform into the creature of my dreams. Then I dreamt I was a snake for a while. When I woke up I thought I was still dreaming as I was still a snake. I must have fainted because the next thing I remember was waking up here”. You finished telling your story she seemed in a trance, trying to take in all this information. She looked like she was on the edge of either believing you or not.
