Never in his life could Ash have imagined that such a huge being could even exist. His brain was telling him it wasn't possible, but his eyes were telling him something else.
No question, standing above him hundreds of feet tall was Jane Read. Which meant he was in Arthur's house. Ash had the feeling that he was in deep trouble.He didn't know what she was going to do but, she wasn't standing in front of a pair of shoes for nothing. As impossible as the situation was, he thought it might be a good idea to try to get her attention.
"Hey! Hey! M-Mrs Read! Hey! Down here!"
Jane looked down and at first Ash thought she had heard him. His first thought was 'Gee that was easy.' But then he noticed her eyes were directed to something left of his position. That's when she lifted one sock covered foot and he heard the sound of fabric on fabric as she inserted her foot into the shoe. A chill went up is spine as he knew what was coming next. His fears were confirmed as the underside of sock covered foot filled his field of vision. Instinctively he just straight for the toe of the shoe, but he was only delaying the inevitable.Jane had inserted her foot almost completely into her shoe before he even reached the toe.
Ash did the only thing he could think of doing. As Jane's foot settled into the shoe he climbed up onto her sock covered toes and held onto the fabric of the sock as tightly as he could. he could hear the sound of Velcro traps and then she took her first step.
THUD!!
She then took another.
THUD!!
And then another.
THUD!!
Each footstep jarred him so badly Ash thought his arms were going to dislocate. He was doing everything he could to keep his grip on the sock.But with every step he felt his grip weaken. He didn't know how much longer he could hold on.
He hoped she wasn't walking very far.
Blissfully unaware of the situation in her sneaker, Jane walked down the hallway to the stairs leading downstairs.
