The bigger they are...

"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! FUCK!" Jack whispered under his breath as he ran down the sidewalk towards the parking lot on the north side of the building. Another roar from behind quickly told him that the thing had once again spotted him. No easy escape for him today. "Shit!" Jack cursed as he spun around and fired 2 shots into the things chest as it charged after him. A few trails of blood began pouring down its stomach, but that was it. "Just what in the high hell ARE you?!" Jack groaned, exasperated. The monster made another swipe for him just as he turned the corner, narrowly avoiding death once again as bits of the building flew past him. He spotted his car, but knew it was too far away for him to make it in time so he turned around for what would probably be the final fight of his life.

For a moment the level 3 didn't move or make a sound... it just stared at Jack as if it was mildly surprised that he had given up. Not one to play the fool Jack took this oppertunity to draw his gun and make the first strike. Two more bullets sunk deep into its pale grayish-white flesh, but the creature payed its minor wounds no mind as he readied itself for another charge. This was it, Jack wasn't sure how many bullets he had left and the ones he had already spent didn't do a damn thing. Poker had taught him to make the best of the hand you were dealt and that even a poor deal could be turned into a jackpot with a little risk and some skill. Jack swallowed hard as he took careful aim with whatever ammo he had left. The thing was almost upon him when he focused on his target.

He furiously squeezed the trigger of the gun as many times as he was able while keeping the firearm pointed at its target. The last thing Jack saw as he lept out of the way was a flash of red cover the monsters face. The gun, long since emptied, fell out of his hand onto the ground as he backed up against the car. His last ace in the hole had been spent. A gentle breeze began blowing as his foe remained motionless. If it showed any sign of movement, any hint of life, it would all be over... "Well...?" Jack asked as he tried catching his breath. The level 3 zombie fell forward without a sound other than that of its dead body hitting the pavement. It was gone, killed with a bullet that destroyed the mark keeping it alive. "So thats it... you gotta destroy that glowing symbol on their forehead..." Jack noted as he picked up his empty gun. "Guess thats one good thing to know..." In less than a minute he was pulling out of the hotel and heading onto the highway...
