Chapter #5

Harder to breathe

Jack didn't want to try and leave yet since he only had a handgun and axe, but searching the rest of these rooms seemed fruitless. "Well shit..." He groaned as he headed out of room 399 back towards the elevator. "I still don't want to make a trip to the ground floor unless I know its completely safe, but if I run into any of those things on one of the other floors I could probably outrun or kill them if I had to. Those things haven't even made it to most of the higher floors anyway... I should be safe." He decided to make a short trip down to floor 3 where a cute girl had slipped him a number the night he had hit the jackpot. "Room 148... I wonder if she's still here... or even alive for that matter." Jack thought to himself as the elevator came to a stop and opened its doors. In all honesty floor 3 didn't look much better than floor 7, but at least Jack was a few floors closer to making his escape.

"Alright... I've got a gun and I've got a freakin' axe... bring it." He taunted, knowing that no one was around to hear him. He walked down the short hallway and looked over the balcony at the pool just a few floors below. "God... it looks even worse up close... those poor bastards didn't stand a chance against these monsters..." He turned away and continued on to room 148, ignoring the others along the way. "If there isn't something here I'm just going to try and make a run for my car, even if those things get me its better than spending the last hours of my life going through dead people's stuff." The door to the room in question soon came into view near the end of a darkened hallway and Jack carefully made his way over and went inside. It was hard to see as the only light came from a window that was covered up by a shade, but there was just enough for Jack to be able to search the area directly in front of it. The creepy twilight effect unnerved him, but he soon came upon a tiny flashlight keychain attached to a handbag. "I suppose this is better than nothing..." Jack sighed as he put it in his pocket. "If I need to search any cabnets or closents this'll be useful."

He was about to walk over to remove the shade covering the window when he heard somethin stir in the bedroom. "That can't be good..." He whispered to himself as he pulled the cover back to allow a wave of warm sunlight to flood into the room. "Please don't let that girl be in here... please don't let that girl be in here..." Jack chanted softly to himself as sat his axe down on the couch and approached the door with just his gun. He turned the knob and the door swung open as Jack readied himself to fire at anything that jumped out at him. "Oh my god..." He moaned as he covered his mouth with his hand. There, on the bed was the exact same girl he had seen a few days before, the one who had handed him the number and asked him to drop by before he left. Both her wrists were slit and a blood coated razor was tangled in the red sheets under her arms. "Fuck." Jack groaned as he turned to leave, only to hear a deep growl echo from the shadows behind him. He spun back around just in time to catch a flash of red as something tackled him to the ground. The gun fell from his loosened grip as the massive zombie who had him pinned to the ground began choking him with its large hands...

You have the following choices:

1. Jack tries to fight the zombie off

2. Jack tries to pick up his gun before the zombie strangles him
