This choice: Switching the family around 2, son to daughter, mother to father • Go Back...Chapter #4Switching the family around 2, son to daughter,... by: MRBustin   Once the family had finished filing into the waiting room the older gentleman produced a stack of folders and began sorting through them. "Ah, here we are, the Hawkins family. Now, I have folders for each of you with all of the details, but I'll be hitting the high points as we go. Ah, and I see our transition team is already here," he added as several men in scrubs came through a side door pushing wheel chairs. "Just take a seat in the chairs while these gentleman get you hooked up The medications the're giving you are just to help you relax before you get to surgery."
"Surgery?" Frank asked, wincing slightly as a nurse started an IV. "What do we need surgery for?"
"Well, the purpose of The Town is to evaluate how you handle a life that is radically different than the one you had before. The surgical team we've assembled has developed several innovative techniques to allow us to place you in a very different life situation. At that point, we'll be observing how your interactions change based on the changes in your environment."
"So, you're going to make us look different?" Sarah asked as the drugs started to flow. "I wouldn't mind a bit of a face lift," she said, touching the beginnings of wrinkles at the corners of her eyes. "And maybe a little bit off the middle?" she asked hopefully.
"Well... That's not exactly what we plan on doing" the older gentleman said.
"What do you mean?" Frank asked confused by what this man was saying.
"Well, you see, You're being assigned to new lives with different roles.The surgery is designed to make sure you can fulfill those roles. We are going to be keeping you all together as a family, but you will each have a different role to play in that family than you do now. I'll start with you Frank. You are going to become Francine Hawkins. You will still be an adult, but if I remember correctly, your going to become either 42 or 43 years old and work at a hair salon downtown.
"And what about me?" Sarah asked. "If your making my husband a woman, what will become of me?"
"Well" the gentleman started, "you will be Seth Hawkins. Head of the family. You own your own constitution company, and you keep in shape by helping out on the sights. I believe your close to the same age as your wife will be"
"What is happening to me" asked Lacy.
"You sweetie, are going to become a 14 year old boy named Luke. From what I remember from your file, your quite the athlete and you are a star on your schools freshman boys soccer team"
"Gross, I don't wanna be a boy" she said.
"Sorry, I didn't put together your file. Now, as for you young Mark. Your going to become Macy Hawkins. Your 17, the varsity volleyball captain, and an honor roll student. If you preform well this year you could have some serious scholarships in your future. Now, does anyone have any last minute questions?"
Everybody shook their heads no.
"Swell, then let the procedures begin"
And with that the Hawkins family was administered their IV's and they all passed out quickly. Now, who do we follow?  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
