After several minutes of arguing, the cheerleaders finally relinquished control to the baseball team. It was their celebration after all.
Everyone piled into John's and Frank's vans and headed over to the nearby buffet. Seeing the large crowd did not exactly thrill the manager with it being so late, but he seated the group all the same. Being as it was getting late, the best food was no longer out. The guys on the team didn't care but the cheerleaders complained non stop.
Without hesitation, Jim grabbed two plates and just started loading them high. He didn't even bother putting his stuff down at the table first.
"Hey guys," Frank laughed, pointing Jim out, "we better hurry up and get some food too or else it will all go into the trash can!"
The guys all laughed as they joined Jim at the buffet trays, each getting their own two plates. Since he had joined the team, it had become a tradition to try to out eat Jim though no one had managed it and all they had to show for it was some larger waistline, which few really seemed to mind. Jim on the other hand had not gained a pound his entire time on the team except for some muscle.
Everyone waited until the last guy was seated before they all dug in, laughing and joking as they ate. Paul, the smallest guy on the team, like usual capped out after his first plate and a half. Jim on the other hand had already gone back for his second helping.
He was going back for his third, and usually his last, helping, all but Logan having dropped out by this point. This is when both guys really pushed, Jim not wanting to be outdone and Logan determined to beat him.
